Close to the River Thames where the Oxford College boat teams and Oxford University rowing team train early every morning (5-10 min walk). The historic college of Pembroke and Christ Church college are 10-15 min walk from the property. The famous Head of the River pub is 10 min walk - the name 'The Head of the River' refers to the rowing boat which is in front at the end of each day of the four-day university 'Summer Eights' bumping races - the finishing line is just to the east of the pub. The White House pub (8 min walk) was built in 1897 and designed by the architect Henry Thomas Hare, whose grandest Oxford building, our town hall, opened in the same year. In 2018, the new Westgate shopping centre was officially opened to the public (15 min walk / 5 min bus). The shopping centre provides the best restaurants, John Lewis department store, Curzon private cinema (with double seats), bars and coffee/tea houses.
