Southern Snowdonia is the best kept secret in Wales, where the mountains meet the sea, but not overrun by tourists. Cader Idris is the 3rd highest peak in Wales with the summit offering breathtaking views of the sea and seemingly endless surrounding mountain ranges. Miles of deserted, sandy beaches still exist where you can walk for hours and see just a few others, usually with a friendly nod and a wave. The picturesque and bustling harbour town of Barmouth and market town of Dolgellau offer civilisation if any is needed! Both have cafes, music, seafood restaurants, galleries and antiques. Enjoy the best Italian Pizza at the Mawddach Pizza Restaurant (advance booking recommended) or simply walk across the estuary via the toll bridge to the George III pub for a gastro feed.
