Hello, and welcome to Monawilline cottage. I moved the property as a wee girl in 1971 when I moved to Arran with my family and both properties were dire need of some TLC . In 2018, my husband and I decided to take the property under our wing and do some more, much needed renovation and modernising of the huge garden and the property. It really has been quite a journey, and has taken much longer than we intended! Our aim was to combine the traditional with practical modern touches, and we are delighted with the result! We hope you love it as much as we do.

Built in 1873, Monawilline is one of the oldest properties on the sea front in Lamlash. The cottage is situated behind the main house which over looks the bay to Holy Isle. It has a traditional cosy living room with electric stove, separate dining room, fully equipped kitchen with hob, oven, fridge/freezer and microwave. The downstairs bathroom has a spacious shower with large relaxing rain forest shower head. The two upstairs bedrooms are double and a twin (or can be linked together).

The Isle of Arran is a unique holiday destination combining all of Scotland's best loved features, giving it the much loved nick-name Scotland in Miniature. Lamlash is on the East side of the island and overlooks to Holy Island in the bay where there is Buddhist retreat. This can be accessed by a wee ferry from the pier which is a ten minute walk away. A fifteen minute leisurely walk turning right out of our gate will take you to the centre of the village which has welcoming pubs and restaurants which serve coffees & cakes,lunches and meals and have seating both inside and out. There are also some craft shops, a newsagents, chemist and a well-stocked Co-op. The bus stop is a five minute walk, and a regular service can take you either north towards the ferry terminal which is ten minutes away, or south to explore other parts of the island. A 20 minute walk to the left out of the gate will take you to the quieter end of Lamlash where you can see the seals on the rocks, and can walk to Clauchland’s Point where there is a tiny wee island called Hamilton Rock and is a popular fishing spot.
