Stanislaw
Semi-detached old housekeeper quarters with a gorgeous view over Loch Morar. After renovation. Part of the Chapel House and historic building. Offers warm and comfortable accommodation with private off street parking and private entrance with a patio. Most spectacular beaches just on our doorstep with some lovely scenic walks around. The house is a C-listed building from late 19th Century. It serves as a Presbytery (House where priest resides). Part of the Housekeeper’s Quarters. Due to diminishing finances, made available to Visitors. Some renovations inside, bringing it up to its current state. Rented occasionally. There is a connection between the apartment and main part of the property which is sealed off. Oil fired boiler and a room Thermostat (you can choose your own heating level but there is no air-con). Dog (can be heard barking) on site and an outdoor cat to keep the mice away - both friendly, no pets allowed for guests. Property is self-serviced and self-catering (with full kitchen facilities). Wood-burning stove is not allowed for guests to use.
The property is part of the Welcoming Catholic Church Community and the host is the Parish Priest serving the entire area north of Glenfinnan. He enjoys cycling and walking. Has a dog and an outdoor cat.
The Village Shop, Local Pubs and Restaurants apart from Morar Hotel are located in Mallaig. This gives the area a real sense of tranquility without much traffic. There are also a range of options in nearby Arisaig which is a short drive away. Nearby there are a series of white sandy beaches complete with a wonderful collection of dunes - ideal for sunbathing, exploring, walking or beachcombing. Out on the horizon lie the islands of Eigg, Rum, and Skye. Closest railway station is Morar. There are daily buses from the village (10-15mins walking distance). There are various boat trips from Mallaig to Knoydart, Small Isles (Eigg, Rum, Muck & Canna) and the Isle of Skye. Calmac sails to Skye daily and The Shearwater departs from Arisaig Marina or taking you on a relaxing trip or day out to the Small Isles where you may well see dolphins, whales, porpoises and seals in their natural habitat on a day out to the Small Isles. There is also trout fishing available on Loch Morar which is the deepest freshwater Loch in Europe. Legend has it that Morag a prehistoric monster graces the waters of Loch Morar. Steam train travels from Mallaig to Fort William daily.
