Ford house offers B&B in a traditional grade II listed, 500 year old thatched cottage with original features. It is a two storey, colour washed stone house with beamed ceilings, a gorgeous large fireplace with massive chamfered bressummer and stone jambs, leaded pane windows and fine old furnishings in keeping with the property. We have three bedrooms and if all three are booked, shared facilities (two bathrooms, and separate toilets). The house is set in rural idyllic Devonshire countryside surrounded by 5 acres of beautiful wild gardens. Narrow lanes leading to the property add to the charm of the location. The structure has been recently renovated in traditional style with a new thatch roof adorned by two iron Gordon Setters. The grounds are ideal for wedding and birthday parties where we can erect a marquee and also arrange catering. At the country house, each room has a TV, a hair dryer, soap, a coffee and tea station, bed linen and towels. Dressing gowns are available on request. Full English or continental breakfast options with fresh pastries, preserves, fruits and juice, fresh coffee and tea are available each morning Guests can also relax in the garden and take a stroll to the Colly Brook and around the property on cut pathways. There is plenty of parking and space for camping (no facilities) The property is not wheelchair friendly and there are stairs leading up to all the bedrooms. We have a no smoking policy inside the building

Pippa and Stephen from South Africa, have been in the hospitality industry for more than 35 years, both on the supply and hosting side of the industry. We have a wealth of knowledge and will be putting all this into running the property and welcoming you as our guests. Pippa is an avid gardener and loves nature, she also has the ability to cook up a storm. Stephen is an avid gardener, is certified as a Foundation Cycling Instructor - Road, and if you would like to join him on an early morning ride, this can be arranged. Weekend Bicycle tours can be arranged. The terrain does not lend itself to beginners unless on an e-bike. We will be available to assist with local interest.

Ford house is surrounded by many local attractions. Not far away is the Jurassic coastline of Lyme Regis including the well known Mary Anning fossil museum, the charm of Beer, historical towns of Sidmouth and Seaton and many more. Sandy Bay is great for windsurfing and clifftop strolls and Lulworth Cove is a beautiful beach, a distinctive rounded bay formed by sea erosion, arched waves and limestone folding. The Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is 19 km from Ford House. The Woodlands Castle is 31 km from the house and there are many stately homes to visit, for example Ford Abbey in Chard and Cothay Manor. There are three winery's close by and we have four golf courses nearby, one of which hires out golf clubs. The Kings Arms Inn, The Otter Inn and Tuckers Arms are all situated a short drive away and are renowned for excellent locally sourced food and array of beers and ales, always greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, they make you feel at home. There are many very good restaurants and coffee shops close by.
