After watching reality documentaries like escape to the country and similar in the early 00’s we decided we’d like a piece of that actions! In the dark and dismal Oct of 2006 we started our search, flying to and from Essex to Newquay. After a particularly frantic yet unfruitful trek up and down the Cornish highways, it was with heavy hearts that we headed back to the airport. BUT…en route we had a call that another property had just come on the Market. Could we view, would we make it in time?… Well you know the answer to that question!! Fate played its part and on St Patricks day 2007 we moved in! We’ve spent the past 15years raising a family and growing our business here at the Edgcumbe. A real family affair, 3 siblings, a couple of spouses and a few children too. We love to have a hands on approach, so you will no doubt meet most the family whilst you stay! Did I mention the blind Spaniel and the Pug?? They sometimes make an unauthorised appearance too! We all have a love affair with the water and the great outdoors, from surfing and cold water dipping, to hiking and exploring. #lovewhereyoulive. We hope you do to.

The Edgcumbe Hotel is in an enviable elevated position where coast meets countryside. Nestled between not one but two amazing popular surf beaches, on the edge of the coast path, and a stones throw from the town centre with it’s mix of independen Artisan shops. It’s all about location location location. The outside may be classic Victorian, but on the inside our rooms have more of a Nordic influenced feel with modern clean lines, stylish natural simplicity, and functionality. A great space of calm and comfort to unwind from the chaos of todays busy lifestyle. All rooms have modern En Suite Shower rooms with toiletries and big fluffy towels. Our rooms have extra mod cons like refrigerators & USB plug points. All room have hospitality tray with fresh milk and the sea view rooms have an added touch of luxury of a coffee Pod machines. In contrast the ground level hosts our colourful and vibrant DECK restaurant. From 4pm the DECK Bar and Grill becomes a hive of activity for families, friends and locals to come together for fab food. Bude has so much to offer, from History & Geology, to Arts & Crafts and outdoor activities such as surfing, kayaking, paddleboardin, of course for the less extreme, there is more serene activites such as hiking and naturewatching. We have easy access to the Atlantic highway, the A39 so you can easily explore up and down the County if you want to explore further afield.

The edgcumbe is located in a quiet crescent at the top of the Bude town. It overlooks the open space of the sand dunes, the cliffs that form part of the coast path, the beach and the Atlantic ocean and Beach. It is a 2 minute easy walk to the town centre. Bude is a tradtional town with good quailty seaside gift shops as well as clothing and surf shops. Outdoor activities are plentyful, with Circular walks, cycling, surfing, golf, tennis, bowls and horseriding on the doorstep.
