"Dromard," means "a high ridge", and is in the townland of Derrybeg, or "little oak woods", just over two miles on the east side of Ennislkillen, up a winding avenue off the main A4 Belfast Road. We are on a working beef and sheep farm, running down to the shores of Lough Erne at Tamlaght Bay. We have awards for wildlife, woodland and countryside management, with a focus on use of renewable energy, including solar panels. This is hidden Ireland at it's best. We provide modern, first floor ensuite rooms in our converted stable loft, with breakfast served in the dining room of our Victorian farmhouse which was originally a thatched house and dates back 200 years. Guests are served fresh, local produce which is cooked to order daily and served at individual tables. Local free range eggs from our neighbour's farm, local bacon and sausages and Northern Irish soda and potato farls are cooked to order. Outdoors you can enjoy the garden, explore Clive's woodland garden in late spring and take the woodland walk to the Lough shore at Tamlaght Bay. We have a lovely array of Camellias, Magnolia, and Rhododendron among others along the way. There is ample parking free of charge on site.
On May 7th, 2022, we shall have been looking after guests for 30 years at Dromard House Bed and Breakfast. We have been providing guest accommodation since 1991 and have been AA Landlady of the year finalists, and winners of the Best Ulster Farm Accommodation Awards. Dromard has been in the Weir family for over 170 years, and it gives us great pleasure to share it with our guests. You will be greeted on arrival by Sharon, or Robert, who will also serve breakfast, and help is available with your luggage if required. Although our guest bedrooms have separate access from the main farmhouse, there is always someone on hand if you need help or advice during your stay. We have recently refurbished the common areas at Dromard, and added a separate kitchen for guests' use. Here you will find a fridge, toaster and microwave oven, with cutlery and crockery. So if you'd like to make up a picnic for your day out, or bring back a takeaway, please feel free to use these new facilities. In your bedroom, you will find a well stocked hospitality tray, TV with Freeview channels, superfast BT Infinity Broadband, hairdryer and shaver point, and you can iron clothes in the guests' kitchen facility.
Enniskillen is the county town of the Fermanagh lakelands, with 3 National Trust properties at Crom Estate, Castle Coole and Florencecourt, and just an hour by car from 2 others- Ardess House and the Argory. The Marble Arch Caves offer a very different experience, and are part of the European Geopark. Belleek Pottery , Enniskillen Castle Museum, Cole's monument, boat trips on Lough Erne in the summertime, ancient castles at Tully and Monea, great viewpoints and lakeshore walks are all on offer. We have great restaurants, with Greek, Thai, and Italian as well as Indian and Chinese, and local fare in the pubs. For evening entertainment we have the Ardhowen Theatre, and a seven screen Omniplex cinema. There are various local festivals throughout summer, with the Lady of the Lake proving hugely popular year after year. And we are just an hour by car from the beaches of beautiful County Donegal at Rosnowlagh, Bundoran and Mullaghmore. Twenty minutes drive will bring you to Fermanagh's latest attraction, the Cuilcagh mountain boardwalk experience, or "Stairway to Heaven". And just a little further afield is the Ulster American Folk Park, which offers an amazing full day out.
