We created Collingwood Cottage as a perfect little hide away which provides all the comforts you need to make a comfortable stay. We spent over a year rebuilding an old cottage and lots of thought of what we would want if we were looking for a place to stay. Hopefully when you visit you will agree that the decor and attention to detail makes this property stand out, such as the original beams in the lounge and kitchen, the hand made oak doors. The bedroom features a really comfortable Somnus super king sized bed with wall mounted TV and leads through to the spacious and beautiful shower room. From here you can walk out on to the rear walled patio so you can sit in the sun or step into the Hot Springs Hot Tub. Other things to make your stay special is the decor and comfort of the cottage, nice touches such as the touch pad operated window blinds, large chandeliers and comfortable furniture. It has a full kitchen with washing machine and dish washer and we provide the necessary cleaning materials you may need for a longer stay and also provide towels for the bathroom and hot tub areas.

We always want you to feel welcome and prepare a small welcome pack for your arrival. This includes a bottle of wine and cake. If you want any other items or are vegetarian/vegan please let me know. Collingwood Cottage is situated in the quaint north Cumbrian village of Talkin where you will see peacocks wondering around, sometimes basking in the sun on the village green next to the local pub. Talkin is just 1.5 miles from Brampton, a small town with a good selection of shops. The local countryside is wonderful and Talkin borders a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Talkin is ideally suited for those who want to just walk the local area or explore Hadrian's Wall, the Borders and North Lakes. Penrith and Keswick can be reached by a short car ride. For the active persons, locally there are plenty of walking and cycling routes, for golfers, Brampton Golf Club is less than a mile away. A great short walk is Talkin Tarn, a small glacial lake just half a mile down the road and then back to the local pub, the Blacksmiths Arms which serves traditional pub food. Just a mile up the road at Castle Carrock you will find The Duke of Cumberland, a very welcoming pub offering a wonderful atmosphere and great contemporary food. Only 11 miles away is the border city of Carlisle with its Castle and cathedral. For food shopping Brampton has Spar and Co-op as well as butchers, a deli and various takeaways. Other amenities such as doctors, banking services and a post office are also there. For larger food shops Tesco and M&S foothill are located at Junctions 43 and 44 of the M6 respectively.
