The cottage has an open-plan ground floor with a large, fully-equipped kitchen and breakfast bar, a relaxing lounge area with a sofa bed and a dining or work area with a table and chairs. There is a dedicated storage space for your luggage, just inside the front door, and the floors are tiled throughout, in keeping with the contemporary styling. A wall-mounted tv and broadband wi-fi service will keep you entertained and up to date with the latest news and events during your down time. The spiral staircase leads directly into the first floor bedroom, where the king-size bed always looks inviting after a long day. There's plenty of storage in the bedroom and through the door is the large dressing room with walk-in shower, cupboards and ample room to unwind in. If a shower isn't your thing, head through the final doorway to the bathroom, where you can wash 'n' watch, with a tv conveniently placed, well... just above your toes. Careful with that remote now! Unrestricted parking is usually available outside the property (on Nottingham Road), or a church further down has 'honesty box' parking.

Welcome to Southwell, a town that sits fairly comfortably under the title of 'a hidden gem', with that classic English mix of legend, history, commerce and community, packed into a bustling town and set in the evergreen countryside. Although the feeling when wandering around the town now is quite relaxed, the proximity of the City of Nottingham and the great River Trent, coupled with the lingering memories of the region's industrial past and religious importance, still seem to lend a vibrancy and purposefulness to the day-to-day life of the town. So please take time to have a look around the town, during your stay, and get to meet some of the residents, who you'll invariably find helpful and justifiably proud of their town.

On the walk into the town, you'll pass the entrance to Southwell Minster, an impressive cathedral church with Anglo-Saxon origins. The ruins of the Archbishop of York's Palace are alongside the Minster. The nearby Memorial Park honours the fallen of World War 1, as well as hosting the Southwell Scout Group, the Bowls Club, the Tennis Club and Southwell City Football Club, which provides football to over 400 local players in 35 teams, aged from 5 years to well, my age! Leaving the Minster grounds via Church Street will take you past the Minster Shop & Refectory and into the town centre. There are numerous stopping-off points to eat, including traditional english/fish & chips, Italian, Indian and some delightful Deli's with freshly produced savouries and sweets and drinks, which are dotted amongst a full range of artisan and functional shops. other attractions in the locality include Southwell Racecourse, Southwell Golf Club, The Workhouse, Kelham Hall & Country Park, Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park, White Post Farm, Newark Castle & Gardens and the National Civil War Centre @Newark Museum. The nearest town is Newark and slightly further afield are the towns of Mansfield and Chesterfield.
