ibis Marseille Centre Gare Saint Charles, hotel in Marseille

ibis Marseille Gare Saint Charles is 1 mi from the Vieux Port and Joliette district. The hotel offers a bar with a terrace equipped with a boules court and free boules.

A teeny tiny room that was barely big enough for 2 people but very efficient and clean. Close to St. Charles train station which was nice. The restaurant would be enough reason to stay again. Fabulous food (penne pasta with shrimp and the bacon cheeseburger). Delicious.

FAQs about hotels in Marseille

A City Built from the Sea

Founded by the Phocaeans in 600 B.C., the long history of Marseille has produced an interesting and dynamic port-side city bursting with cultural diversity. Watch the fishermen sell their catch by auction at Vieux Harbor or cruise along the Corniche roads with views of the Calanques, dramatic rocky inlets to the sea.

The le Cours Julien and la Plaine areas provide a trendy hangout and every Thursday and Saturday morning, the Plaine market offers its various wares. This is the area to buy a novel from a hip bookshop or watch your kids on one of the playgrounds. There are also plentiful cafes to sip a cappuccino and watch the world go by.

If a culture packed vacation is on the agenda, the Musée d'Archéologie Méditerranéenne, Notre Dame de la Garde and Palais Longchamp won’t disappoint. The unique Unité d'Habitation, designed by famous architect Le Corbusier, contains everything from a shopping street to housing and has spectacular views of the terracotta landscape that makes Marseille so distinctive.

Marseille is a short trip from Marseille Provence Airport, so your holiday can start promptly. With over 100 hotels and apartments available, Booking.com is the perfect place to find great accommodation and start your journey in the largest city on the Côte d'Azur.

Marseille is fantastic - it has culture, it has history, it has beautiful nature and it has beaches. You can travel through Marseille using public transport with ease. There is something for everyone. The food is amazing and the people are so friendly. You can't help but fall in love with Marseille and it is a place I always enjoy going back to to recharge and the atmosphere always helps me find my passion in life again. We ate a Geppetto's, my favourite places was the Calanques and the Port Vieux and my daughter loved both as well as shopping in town.

Massive selection of food on offer, Get a walking tour for sure. Plenty to see in the Old Fort, Museum. The old town is very nice. Lots of shopping. the food market was great. On the whole I would recommend a long weekend or use as a base for the surrounding area. When we go again we will rent an apartment rather than a hotel.

Marseille is a neglected city, it has a reputation as a dangerous city, which is certainly not true. I definitely recommend a visit, there are many things to see. All the traveler has to endure is the incredible mess, trash everywhere and the stench.

I absolutely loved Marseille. Plenty to do. What I most enjoyed was the Corniche Kennedy, Maison Empereur and the Les Grandes Tables culinary experiences. La Friche Belle de Mai is worth a visit. Marseille is a walking city, but public transport equally great. I loved visiting La Cite Radieuse - the building of Le Corbusier - a must visit.

The Hotel is in a fantastic location right next to the Central Station in Marseille.(2 minutes walk from hotel) The bus from the airport is less than 30mins away and arrives at the station which also has the Metro station. The Port is less than 15 mins walk from the hotel - 2 stops on Metro. The Breakfast is average but sets you up for the day very limited hot food choice however good choice of breads, cold meat, fruit, cereals etc. There is a nice bar area.Overall great location in a value for money hotel.

We were welcomed by Marc & able to check in early, which we had not expected. Room was lovely, had everything we needed. Best of all its location is less than 2 blocks from Vieux Port (the center of the action in Marseille!) and so many restaurants, shops and groceries nearby. Added bonus was accommodation to our needing assistance with check out, since we had booked a 4 hour activity for our final morning, which would end at check out. (Thank you Marc & team!) Highly recommend!
