Set in an orthodox monastery by Lake Juojärvi, Valamon Luostari offers peaceful accommodation and outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. Joensuu city centre is 55 minutes’ drive away. The bright, basic rooms at Valamon Luostari have either shared or private bathroom facilities. Some rooms have free Wi-Fi access. Breakfast and lunch buffets are served at Restaurant Trapesa. Beverages, snacks and doughnuts are available throughout the day. Guests can participate in church services and view the religious icons on display in the monastery. Painted icons, oil prints, candles and Valamo wines are sold in the souvenir shop. Leisure options include a sauna, gym and rentals of bicycles, snow shoes and kick sledges. Parking is free on site. The Lintula Monastery is a 15-minute drive away.
