I enjoyed being in Santo Domingo for its arts, culture, and tourist sites. Visiting Ágora Mall was a great experience, the people were friendly, the beach was amazing, and the food was delicious. I also loved exploring the zoo and the aquarium—it was an unforgettable experience.

I only stayed for 2 nights whilst waiting for rearranged flight however i booked the flat on very short notice late at night and the hosts was very welcoming and friendly.
The accomodation was nice and suited my needs for a short term stop.
I didn't explore Santo Domingo so cannot comment on the area although i did walk 10 minutes down the road to the supermarket for essentials.

The Colonial Zone is OK and feels safe but i don't wander outside of it too much. Traffic is just horrible in Santo Domingo, congested and aggressive. Unfortunately there are no flights into Samana from USA now. Otherwise i'd skip SD all together!

Avoid booking trips from third party sites which tend to overcharge. Your hotel can help you find local tours. Uber is very easy to use and can get you to further off sites. Get an esim from Airalo or Gigsky. There is a trolley train that starts at the intersection of C. Conde & C. Isabel La Católica with a 45min guided tour of Zona Colonia. Tickets were half the price if purchased on site rather than on the web.

Centro Colonial is beautiful.
Centro Colonial is beautiful. Unfortunately not much to do or see when there's plenty of interesting things to show and perhaps one of the most important places in the history of the continent. Culinary culture is also a missed opportunity, a simple example... I didn't find any place serving mamajuana. Also menus are limited to mofongo, sancocho, mangu, tostones, pork and pollo guisado.... where's the seafood? It's an island. Surely there's a richer gastronomy.

The historic part of Santo Domingo is quite small and fairly touristy. The museums and historic sites are interesting and reasonably price. There are touts trying go sell you tours which aren't always good. There is a lively night scene with good restaurants and bars.

There is a decent breakfast, super handy in the morning before to explore town.
I travel a lot and have to admit, for a budget hotel, this establishment performs way better than many mid and upscale hotels in Santo Domingo!
I had to stay longer in Santo Domingo and the choice was of course to stay in Catalonia, best hotel in the zone, it has amazing food in the breakfast and at it’s restaurant, it is spacious and have great views on the sea from everywhere! Love this place
The employees are very, very friendly and helpful. Whatever you need, you get it. They also speak good English, so it's quite easy to make yourself understood. The hotel has a familiär atmosphäre. I would stay there again, if I come to Santo Domingo.
Very friendly staff, many speak English which is helpful. The ambiance was very enjoyable, short steps to the main street El Conde in the Colonial Zone. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
This is our go-to hotel for trips to Santo Domingo. The staff are amazing, the location is ideal and walking distance to everything and the restaurant is delicious.
