“Den Gule Svane” has 3 apartments: ground level 2 smaller units, ‘Fig Studio’ and ‘The Cherry’, with private terraces. ‘The Loft’ on 1st floor, sleeps up to 6 persons. All are self-catering (room-service breakfast is 112 dk and includes fresh bread, usually baked that morning by Sofie). So, if you want to change rooms just let them know asap. The Fig and the Cherry have a separate bedroom (2 single beds), kitchenette with fridge-freezer, Air Fryer, microwave, coffee filter machine and a cooking induction plate, black-out curtains, dining table, a flat screen television (Netflix, Chromecast & Apple box, Danish, Swedish, German and Norwegian channels plus streaming facilities via free WIFI. All bathrooms are tiled with shower, toilet & basin. The Cherry is slightly larger with more kitchen space. The Loft is much larger again with a great terracewith the same facilities but also a dishwasher and full cooking hob. All three are ideal for business travellers and have private, separate entrances. For the Fig we had to choose between giving you access via our private home, or via an own private entrance, but we had to do it via its bathroom. Because we allow single night bookings many of our guests are cyclists and hikers as we are on the local trails and bicycle paths, also close to Ronne. We will offer hikers and cyclists the convenience of our pre-prepared, ready to eat, homemade frozen meals, including vegetarian and vegan. Prices and selections upon enquiry (SmS or email). Book it a day in advance. This proximity to Rønne also makes us popular with business people. There is free parking, a smoking-free environment and two bicycle sheds, free bicycle battery charging (we rent out 4 standard bicycles at 75dk per day). We're only 1 km from the beach and Rønne is 8 km. The airport is 2km so please arrange a taxi.

Diedrik & Sofie are a Belgian couple who moved to Bornholm in 2019 when they bought this yellow house, (built in 1888 as the local community school) and upgraded and renovated it in 2020. They decided to make 3 of those new rooms available for guests and so began ‘Den Gule Svane’ Guest House: the two smaller units which sleep 2 persons each are the ‘Fig Studio Apartment’ (named after an old Bornholmsk fig tree in our garden) and ‘The Cherry’ (also named after an old cherry tree here). They both have nice terraces which makes them quite private. Then we have a larger apartment, ‘The Loft’, on the 1st floor which sleeps up to 6 persons, has more facilities, is larger and has a great terrace with views. In Sofie’s case it was a ‘return to her roots’ as her father’s Mogensen family are from Snoggebæk and she spent many happy holidays visiting here as a child. The name Den Gule Svane comes from the national bird of Bornholm, the swan, and we made it a yellow swan because our house is painted in the yellow colours of Skagen, so typical here on Bornholm. Diedrik was born in South Africa but spent the past 20 plus years in Belgium. As a former lawyer-turned into wine educator (The European Wine Academy) he became intrigued with Bornholm when reading that the wine region Burgundy in France, and its original inhabitants, were named after ‘Burgundarholmr’ (the Old Norse name for Bornholm). Sofie is a qualified chef and baker and will provide a nice breakfast, at your door, for those ordering it in advance.Sofie speaks Danish well but Diedrik is still struggling a bit! They were both involved in two restaurants in South Africa.

Our nearest beach is Arnager (about 1 km) so your kids can splash in shallow water or take a dive from the harbour wall. Bornholm is a cyclist and hikers paradise and we also focus on these two groups of travellers. So, we accept 1x night bookings in the Cherry and Fig (not in July and August of course) and we have good support and infrastructure for it, we can for instance arrange lunch packages for you and recommend routes). Rønne is a bicycle ride away, about 6 km (and there will be no parking or traffic problems!) Apart from the cycle path that runs right at our property entrance (we have 4 bicycles for hire) offering numerous cycle roads and forest paths all over the island, there is also a coastal hiking path that winds along the beaches. Rønne is only 6 km away, with its boutiques, museums, art & crafts, pubs and café’s, restaurants, art galleries, swimming pool, supermarkets, buses and a local ferry trip of 50 minutes duration to the island of Christiansø. Our 18-holes golf course is only about 5 km away, an easy bicycle trip of 15 mins. And for anglers, there is, of course, the sea (lots of Sea Trout caught at Arnager) and our dams are well stocked with pike and trout, in fact, the nearest angling spot is only 750 metres away. If it’s our famous white beaches you’re looking for Stampen, Onsbaek are all easy cycling distances. From Arnager, it is sandy beaches all the way, first the lovely Boderne, then on to the beaches at Dueodde (5 km long beach) and Snogebaek.
