You will be greeted at the airport with an 'ei (garland) of flowers and taken to your bungalow to settle in and drink a cold niu (coconut). After which, you'll be shown around the local township and where you can pick up a few supplies to get you started. Hi, I'm Vaea and I manage the property with my husband Marokii. We are originally from Rarotonga but after a few years of volunteer work around the pacific, we moved to the island of Aitutaki, the home of our parents, and with their help built these beautiful bungalows together. We love the quiet island life and all that the sea has to offer including fishing and a variety of water sports. We are family-oriented and have a strong faith that motivates us to take care of others and our guests. The real beauty of Tai Marino is the sea! You can walk on the beach for several minutes either way and enjoy the spectacular sunsets as well as the diverse sea life. And if for some reason you tire of looking at the ocean you can also see the highest peak, Maunga Pu from your bungalow and hike there to catch the sunrise from the trail across the road. Hungry? Aunty Odee'z, a local takeaway store popular for their seafood dishes, is only a 5 minute walk away. Walk for 15 minutes towards town and you'll find Tauono Market and a bit further, Tamanu Restaurant which hosts a popular Island Night Buffet and Show. The nearest grocery store, Tina & Co 24/7 is about 5 minutes drive away and the local township about 10 minutes drive. We highly recommend doing a lagoon cruise to see Aitutaki's prized beauty. There are many tours available and we can help you find one that suits your needs. We also offer our own private lagoon cruise which is a popular choice with our guests. The cruise includes a light lunch and features snorkeling with the giant trevally, snorkeling amongst the giant clams, turtle-spotting and island-hopping.
