The music-themed Tralala Hotel Montreux is located right in the Old Town of Montreux, 500 metres from the lake and the Montreux train station. WiFi internet is available free of charge.

The hotel is easily access via bus. It is also walkable from the lake (the last part of the route is a steep climbing hill). The hotel also serves good breakfast too. I really enjoyed the breakfast with 80's & 90's song played by the restaurant.

Hotel Victoria Glion, hotel in Montreux

The majestic Victoria Hotel can be found in Glion above Montreux (connected by funicular) and is renowned for its breathtaking views of Lake Geneva and the snow-capped Alps.

A weird anachronism of a hotel, feeling a little more like a museum, but superbly located - and with a view across the lake to forgive everything.

FAQs about hotels in Montreux

Somewhere to Love

Surrounded by Lake Geneva and glorious Alpine peaks, tranquil Montreux has enchanted artistes through the ages. Lord Byron was so inspired by the style and setting of waterfront Château de Chillon that he wrote a poem about it. Nowadays it is one of Switzerland’s most popular attractions.

Freddie Mercury also fell in love with Montreux and a lakefront statue in Place du Marché commemorates this former resident in typical pose, with one arm raised to the heavens. Queen fans flock here for the annual Memorial Day, just one musical festival hosted by this town. The most famous is the 2-week Montreux Jazz Festival, held in the Music & Convention Centre.

On the opposite side of town is Audiorama (the Swiss National Audiovisual Museum), near a funicular railway which climbs the hill. Further up the slopes is the family-friendly Rochers-de-Naye ski area, while the Les Pléiades pistes overlook neighbouring Vevey. Down at the quayside wooden chalets house stalls of the annual Christmas market.

Summer activities include boat trips, hiking and the Montreux-Oberland-Bernois narrow gauge railway whose trains allow you to really savour the views…and a nice cup of coffee.

The train station also connects to Geneva, site of the nearest airport, and Booking.com offers luxury hotels, apartments with views and cheap B&Bs nearby.

After getting to the area, you may discover recommended sightseeing spots. Chaplin World in Vevey was lovely. You can arrive from Montreux by making a stop or two on the SBB or by taking a city bus. If you stay in Montreux, the hotel will give you discount tickets for sightseeing (depending on the season).

Montreux is situated in an area surrounded by mountains which were snow capped when we were there and the lake views are beautiful. Chillon Castle and the Freddy Mercury Statue are worth a visit but make sure you allow enough time for the Castle visit as there is so much to see. Walking around Montreux is easy, there is a good bus service and the train station is right in town upper level. Plenty of good restaurants to eat at and they are open till late evening.

    Stunning location.

Stunning location. Lots of walking paths along lakeside with ‘view seats’ scattered along the routes. Various methods of getting up the mountains (rack railways etc) and excellent buses running everywhere (free with a pass from my hotel). Boat trips around Lake Geneva with opportunities to disembark to look round other lakeside villages.

I went to Montreux specifically for the Freddie Mercury...

I went to Montreux specifically for the Freddie Mercury celebration days but quickly fell in love with it. The entire area is stunning and everything feels so relaxed. I had heard it was a bit expensive but I found it pretty equal to any other capital I have visited although beer is expensive in bars - around 9.90 CHF for a pint on average. Eating out was comparable to most places I have visited and there are some fabulous eateries. It is a very easy city to get around on foot although there are also excellent public transport links. The public transport from Montreux is excellent meaning you can also explore surrounding areas. I travelled into Vevey one day - 40 minutes on the bus - to visit Chaplin's World, a museum dedicated to Charlie Chaplin. It is extremely easy to spend a day in these areas thanks to the excellent transport links. (I also would thoroughly recommend Chaplin's World. With such stunning scenery and such a chilled way of life it is easy to see why people fall in love with Montreux and never leave.

Well worth a visit and plenty to do in a stay of a week.

Well worth a visit and plenty to do in a stay of a week. On the other hand, we preferred Vevey which seems more spacious and less touristy - more people were going about everyday jobs there. The lake cruise is wonderful (we included the lunch on board), and the mountain railways are efficient, if rather crowded at times - best to go early if possible. The lakeside walk to Chateau Chillon is wonderful too - again, best to go early morning.

This was a stop in a longer trip to Switzerland.

This was a stop in a longer trip to Switzerland. We were there as they were getting ready for the Jazz fest so there was alot of construction. We loved the Lavaux vineyard area and enjoyed the steam boat tour of the lake, and Chillion Castle as well. However if pressed for time on your first visit to Switzerland this is the area I would skip, but that is my personal preference.

The location is dope !!! it’s one of the hotels just on edge of promenade of Montreux. in fact the only one with all sides facing lake and also the restaurant on top of promenade and lake. special kudos to the staff. French hospitality with Swiss flavour can be best. we also liked the breakfast spread and would highly recommend for those who are food connoisseurs. Anna from Eurotel helped to reserve the topmost floor for us and also arranged the room for our kid. overall nothing could have been better.

Delightful stay in an idyllic location - the hotel is an absolute gem of a property, and the restaurant provided a fantastic dinner quite late on our arrival evening. Although the tickets aren't cheap, the hotel is right next to the funiculaire which takes you right up to the top of the mountains at 2,000m, with some unforgettable sights (and option to walk back down). Will definitely be back on our next trip to Switzerland!

It’s the best hotel in my long trip in Switzerland. Staffs are well trained, and facilities are well equipped. The most important thing, the view in the lake view room is so superior that I do not want even waste any minute outside my room. In addition, the hotel is close to the quay which had the boat heading for Chillon castle, and also very close to the train station of Montreux.
