Vancouver Traveller Bed and Breakfast
This is a custom-built , environmentally friendly B&B. We are family run and have been operating bed and breakfast for over 25 years. We offer cooked, full breakfast April to October inclusive. However, there is only cereals for breakfasts Nov to March inclusive. Couple reasons for the boring low-season breakfasts. Linda and Jenny need a break and a rest after after cooking and serving breakfasts for 7 months (Linda and sister are getting older every year). Also, the majority of our low-season guests are visitors (not tourists) and prefer to have breakfasts with friends and relatives. The house was designed and finished in 2016 with environment, the family and guests' comfort and conveniences in mind. The house's hot water, heating and cooling is provided mainly by geothermal energy, specifically vertical closed loop ground source pump. The house produces very little carbon footprint as it uses renewable energy sources - the geothermal energy and electricity. The only natural gas we use is in for one stovetop for cooking. House rules: no outside shoes in the house. Full breakfast 8-9 am, April to October. Boring cereal in only Nov - March. Quiet hours 10 pm - 7 am -please be considerate of all guests and minimize the use of kitchenette, do not use the microwave and do not take showers/baths during the quiet hours unless no one is next to your room.
Vancouver Traveller bed and breakfast is run by the Chen family – Linda, Jenny and family. We immigrated from Taiwan to Canada 40 years ago and have lived in Vancouver since then. In year 2000, mom wanted to run a B&B so Jenny diligently went to the city hall and took out the first business license. In 2005, we moved to our current location. 2014, mom retired and Linda took over mom’s role. In 2015, with much regret, we tore down the old house to custom build a house with the environment, comfort and conveniences of B&B guests and family in mind. In 2016, we moved into the house that you see now at our own website. All of us know Vancouver very well and love to share our love and knowledge for this lovely city with you. Both Linda and Jenny work in addition to running the B&B. We don’t have much time for travelling so we invite the world to stay with us (only the nice people please) so we learn about the guests, their cities and their travels. It’s always fascinating to get to know one another around the breakfast table.
Vancouver Traveller bed and breakfast is located in the popular and prestigious Kitsilano/Arbutus neighbourhoods. Within 10 minutes of walk, there are multiple lines, a supermarket and half a dozen eateries. Another 10 minutes, you will see many more restaurants on Broadway. There is a greenway for cycling and walking in 2 minutes. The B&B is in a quiet residential area between the airport, downtown and University of British Columbia. Most popular attractions are within 10-20 minutes of buses/driving.
