Grew up in the ancient city of Plovdiv, moved to Sofia when I was 18. Lived and worked in the UK (London), the USA (Atlantic City) and Serbia (Belgrade). My wife and I travel as often as possible wanting to explore the world. When our 3 kids were little, traveling was tough, but now it's getting better again, so we use every chance. Knowing what it is like to be abroad and not knowing anyone we will try to provide everything that great travel homes should. The "Old town" is the heart of Plovdiv, the oldest living town in Europe and the fourth oldest in the world. The paved streets, the 19th century renaissance houses which are mostly cultural monuments give it a unique feel which will make your trip unforgettable. Once you open the front door you are submerging into the ancient history of Plovdiv, which is more than 8000 years old. Paved streets, old houses, cosy cafes and many antique shops are where you can just relax and take a casual walk. Should you want to go shopping, you can also stroll along the main pedestrian street, which is only 15 mins away by foot. The ancient Roman theatre built in the 2nd century, the eastern gate of three hills, Hissar Kapiya, built in the 11th-13th centuries, the Museum of History, the regional Ethnographic Museum, old churches and a mosque are all in close proximity.
