Had an absolutely wonderful experience with HI, despite this being the first time for me to try a hostelling solution. So much so that Ill definitely lean towards getting another hostel in the future instead of a hotel, if its with HI Hostel. Loved the location, aminitieis, and faciltieis. Additionally, the tours and the acitiviteis arranged by the hsotel are a great way to socialize and make new friends. One thing I would improve is perhaps the depth of the tours as I found them quite at the surface level, however, provided that these are run by volunteers and are completely free of charge, I would definitely go again.

Amazing location right in the beautiful center, could reach any spot we wanted in less than 5-10mins by walk. The breakfast was also nice, though would be better if staff said where to go, because we got lost a little bit, especially because the restaurant with included breakfast is located in the shopping mall.
We got lucky with the view in the city park, it was amazing especially in the evening, though a little bit loud sometimes.

This was my fourth visit to Baku, I have enjoyed my visits in the past but this time its quite disappointing. The behavior of people is changed, they are disrespectful and trying to cheat the tourist. Everything is overpriced and expensive compared to the quality and services they are offering. Roads and public toilets are horrible. No facilities for the tourists travelling to long distances. Most of the hotels and restaurants are overrated and outdated but they are still charging huge amounts.
One thing I would admire is the availability of food options at the the popular tourist destinations. They are more affordable and better than the restaurants in the City.

Very modern at the same time one can feel history while strolling on sidewalks of Baku. Old City is amazing, it takes you back into history. Architecture is very beautiful, kind of mixture of modern and ancient designs. Variety of parks and attractions, restaurants and coffee shops. Prices are a bit higher than that of I am used to though)) Banking system is at top, various cashless payments etc all are working perfectly. A bit language barrier some speak English some don't, some speak Russian and some even refuse to speak Russian. Majority only speak Azerbaijani. Still you can do well in the city. I can say it is safe to walk around the city in the middle of night, very safe city, to my opinion.

I was sooo surprised of how beautiful Baku is!
I was sooo surprised of how beautiful Baku is! like you hear things but then you go and see how aesthetic and beautiful it is! Also, a lot of people told me that it's boring and there is nothing to do, but I highly disagree and I wish I booked more days in the city! The parks, the buildings, the people and OMG ... THE FOOD!!!!!! what an amazing country!

-I recommend allowing extra travel time due to heavy traffic, as you may get stuck in jams."
-If you plan to order from Domino’s, carry your own ketchup. They charge 1 manat for a small pouch, which is reasonable, but for us (Indians), it works out to about 50 INR. ;)
Restaurant staff , airport checkin staff etc treat tourists like fools and make fun of them in their Language and they all laugh together. This is very common. Nizami street is lively , colourful , fun but fraudulent people with animals like monkeys, push the monkey into your hand and when u give it back they ask for 20AZN money . If you don't pay their gang of thugs threatens you. Tour guide was intoxicated or high on drugs and treated us badly. Shahdag was the best part of Azerbaijan. Baku is avoidable. If one has been to singapore or Australia or dubai then there is nothing to see or do in Baku. Shawarma is good but tourists are not respected here

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Baku
Everything about our stay was wonderful. The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. The staff were very prompt with any requests we had, and they went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable (including a surprise birthday cake for my Partner!) The location of the hotel was perfect for walking to nearby attractions, with a great coffee shop next door and lots of local restaurants ~3 min walk away. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Baku’s old city
Good location if you wish to see city centre and old town.
It is not a 4 star hotel as it is wriiten at their entrance. It is not the best hotel, but it is a good value for the money that you pay. Don't expect miracles for 5hat amount of money.
Since I had earlier departure as they start the breakfast, they prepared it for me earlier.
The hotel is close to Baku Eye and just outside the city centre. So very quiet and away from the noise of city centre. Very clean. The staff are very coperative and speak English. Anaar, one the staff members was very helpful and helped get Local phone SIM for me, so that I can use Bolt and other apps. Thank You.
Hotels location is great, view from room also great (sea view). Breakfast has big choice and high quality. Opposite of hotel big shopping mall with all needed. Baku old city is just 10-20 minutes walk from hotel.
The location of the hotel is excellent in the old city and walking distance to all major attractions in Baku. The staff was very helpful, and reacted immediately to our requests.
