You can explore many parts of the Alice region if you use Ooraminna Station Homestead as a base during your travels. Easy day trips will get you as far as Ormiston Gorge, via Simpsons Gap and Standly Chasm in the West MacDonnell ranges, or Trephina Gorge in the East MacDonnell ranges. Ewaninga ancient rock carvings are only 4km down the road, don't forget to pay a visit there during your stay. Alice Springs is a half hour drive by car. We recommend a trip to the Desert park to see the desert flowers in full bloom along the garden paths and the magnificent aviaries. The Royal Flying Doctor Museum is only on of many museums in Alice Springs, well worth a visit. The RFDS (along with Careflight) have saved many cattlemen's lives over time. We urge you to take care of your belongings and park your vehicle in a secure place if visiting the centre of town. There is notable delinquency but you will also note the police presence.
