Situated within 38 km of Nikko Station and 38 km of Tobu Nikko Station, Guesthouse Kincha 駅東口 features rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Utsunomiya. The guesthouse is owned by a former backpacker so he understands how 2 cater to us travelers..from direction to recommendations and stories of his journeys of places you probably will never get to go. He is also cleans the place and takes the time to fold the little triangles on the toilet paper roll. The location is worth the stay alone considering how inexpensive it is & extremely close to the Utsunomiya train station. There is a supermarket that is 5 min walk away that closes at 10pm which is very convenient. Microwave & a small refrigerator are located in the lounge area if you need to store some snacks/drinks. The standup lockers provided are huge which is unheard of for a guesthouse/hostel in Japan. They can easily fit your standard carryon but not your huge checkin luggage or multi-day backpack made for trekking. The dormitory bedroom was very comfortable. Equipped with a A/C unit/heater so you can set the temperature if you like. Don't waste your time with hotels or other hostels. THIS IS THE SPOT!!!

Enjoy the beautiful and peaceful environment. Friendly staff, nice Onsen, big and comfortable public space and kitchen. Everything is perfect. How I wish I could stay here longer!

ゲストハウスあさひのお宿 features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Kurodahara. There is a wonderful community atmosphere and everyone is very welcoming. The beds are comfortable and spacious and all the facilities are clean. The cafe serves delicious food and coffee and the organic food store has lots of good items for sale right downstairs. The neighbourhood is quiet and beautiful.

Located in Kuroiso, 30 km from Shirakawa Station, Chus provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking and a restaurant. I had a great time here! My experience was perhaps a bit unique as I was the only person in the guest house for the duration of my stay. The shared areas are kept super clean and there’s a nice view from the terrace at the shared lounge. It’s a good base to come back to after a day of wandering about mountains. The dormitory beds are surprisingly spacious, cute store/cafe on the ground floor. The staff was kind enough to deal with my broken Japanese 🖤 Thank you, I will surely come back in the future!

Just 100 metres from Tobu Nikko Train Station, Nikko Park Lodge Tobu Station offers a restaurant and rooms with free WiFi. The entire hotel is non-smoking. Toshogu Shrine is 2.5 km from the hotel. Everything! Prices and location are the best!

They also explain everything clearly. Even if you don't speak Japanese, they have instructions/explanations in English.

Roost Hostel Nikko is located in Nikko, within 2.1 km of Nikko Toshogu Shrine and 19 km of Kegon Falls. Exceeded our expectation. Perfect value for money. Location is great! Hiroshi, our host, was amazing & even left a surprise for our little girl! The house is pristine and clean. It's a traditional japanese house so the wall are thin and the floors creak but gives you a chance to live like the locals. The toiletries in the bathroom are sooo good, the coffee & tea table in the common area is fully stocked with choices. Convenience store is just a few minutes walk way, so is this amazing ramen shop we frequented. We love NIkko so much and will definitely come back & stay at Roost!
