Professional staff. Chilled atmosphere in the shared room. They provided a useful map of the area so I knew where I could get dinner / nearby onsen / supermarkets / bank etc. one of many thoughtful touches.

La struttura è accogliente e ben curata, e il proprietario è stato eccezionale: ho avuto il piacere di scambiare alcune chiacchierate con lui, il che ha reso il soggiorno ancora più piacevole. Spero di poter tornare presto per vivere un'altra esperienza così positiva.

It is a wonderful guesthouse managed by a couple who owns the house and who take care of their guests. They know very well the island and can make great recommendations. The kitchen is great to use with everything that you need, including roasted ground coffee by the owner. You easily feel at home. And moreover the view on the sea is amazing and you have access to a beach.

The location was great- a quick walk to the main station, and also a short walk to the castle, the port, and some beautiful shrines in the area. The staff was tremendously welcoming and helpful, even letting me check in a bit early when I arrived. They felt like my friends after my short two-night stay. The bed is thick and comfortable and the AC in the room worked great. Great social space where locals came both nights of my stay and had beers and socialized.

The staff were so friendly and nice, we made loads of friends here due to the relaxed atmosphere. The free breakfast was delicious and we had dinner there twice too and it was so tasty. First things first: this is a welcoming place. I enjoyed my short time at Kotohira a lot and a huge reason for that was the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at the guesthouse. The host (heart and soul of this traditional house in central location) is a bubbly and passionate traveller himself that has seen so many places in Japan and around the world. He is really interested in your own experiences while you travel in the region and he can give you a lot of recommendations. Even though this guest house is in the north of Shikoku, he provided me with travel and commuting advices for Hokkaido. And: I loved the traditional house in central but quiet location. My roomy female dormitory (for 2 people) was lovely decorated. It felt a bit like in a treasure museum. The bath facilities are modern and the kitchen is well equipped (free coffee). So, if you wanna stay in a friendly place where you can recharge travel energy and get freshly inspired, pick this guest house.
