We spent 3 nights here, and everything was great! We stayed in a little house they had available. Luca and Marina were very kind and we had great conversations. Luca is super friendly and hospitable. They have lived there for many years so are a wealth of information. The beach is really close too. I highly recommend Il Triangolo!

Fata Morgana is a haven of peace. Everything about the gardens, the communal kitchen and my room showed pride of ownership. Edit met me with a smile. She answered my many questions with great patience. If you get a chance go hiking with her. She is a certified tour guide and you couldn't be in more capable hands. I spent three weeks at Fata Morgana. I felt I was part of an extended family. Edit has a heart of gold and rescues animals who need a loving home. The dogs and two donkeys are testimonial to how caring Edit is. There are many beaches close by; all of them lined by palm trees. Gorgeous turquoise ocean too. The scenario looks straight out of a travel brochure. If you don't care to walk you can flag down one of the many "conchos" (motorcycle taxis) who will whisk you for CAD$3 either into town or to the beach. My two favourite beaches where Playa Bonita and Playa Popi Punta (lovely drift wood at the point). Lots of grocery stores in town where you can get everything your heart desires. Make sure you visit the gelato place with its many tropical flavours. A really yummy treat. If you are thinking about booking this place don't hesitate. You will be rewarded by a clean room, comfy bed, hammock swinging at your front porch. There was also a perfect space in the common sitting area to unroll my yoga mat. During my daily practice I noticed many tropical birds and butterflies. Fata Morgana is a magical place. I hope I will be back there real soon.

I stayed at Watermelon House for a week, coming from Santo Domingo. From the moment I contacted them to ask for directions, Bartoz was incredibly kind and helpful. The hostel is simple but definitely worth the price! I booked a private room with a private bathroom. Although there isn’t much natural light in the room, this wasn’t a problem for me because all the good things to explore are outside the hostel. The location was ideal for me as it was the perfect starting point for all the tours I took throughout the week. It’s very close to the Malecón, and there’s a nice variety of restaurants and interesting places nearby. The hostel itself is cozy, and the pets, especially Amazon, are adorable and easy to fall in love with! The breakfast was simple but tasty, and it was such a relief to wake up to a good cup of coffee and something to start the day with. It’s definitely appreciated! I have to mention that power outages are common in the area, but it’s nothing to do with the hostel—it’s something that happens throughout the whole region. It didn’t bother me at all since the locals live with it, and it’s good to be aware of these things. Even so, the hostel has a small generator that powers the WiFi router for about an hour, so you’re not completely disconnected. Valentina, the host, was amazing—super friendly and always welcoming. I even had the chance to visit places and go on an excursion with her, and I had an incredible time!

La Hacienda Hostel ligger på den statslige øko-turistrute i Las Galeras' landskab, ved siden af nationalparken Cabo Samana og 700 m fra stranden. Las Galeras centrum ligger blot 1,5 km derfra. This place is a great value for travelers who want to be a little off the beaten path, but right in the middle of many less-visited natural sights. The spot is about a 30-minute walk, or 200 peso 5-minute moto-taxi ride, to the center of Las Galeras, a small beach town in the Samaná peninsula. The property is also conveniently located right on the trail to Madama beach - a small and secluded beach that is simply gorgeous! Karin was both attentive and kind.

Nice hostel, friendly and helpful staff. Great place to meet people. Right in town, a few minutes from the beach. Lots of restaurants and shops around, yet quiet at night to rest. Hot water, good water pressure, good internet and nice kitchen and common areas. I got a very nice room with view to the mountains, no mosquitos, the room wasn't hot and the fan works amazing, also mosquito nets available in case you need them.
