Located directly at Lake Wolfgang, Jugendgästehaus Sankt Gilgen offers free WiFi and free private parking. The Zwölferhorn Cable Car is 400 metres away. This was the best stay I had in all my Europe trip. Staff was extremely courteous and friendly; they agreed to help me check-in late and to check me out early to catch my train. It was refreshing to have my own toilet in my room. Housekeeping staff were friendly and consistent; they kept cleaning the room and emptying baskets all day. Location is perfectly set in front of the lake, and I had beautiful morning and night walks all around Sankt Gilgen in Christmas! I am definitely planning to come back in the summer.

Located in St Johann im Pongau, Hostel-Jugendherberge lies directly at the Alpe Adria path and offers a fitness centre, a sauna and free bicycles and sleighs. The hostel was very clean and modern. Nice view from the terrace. The breakfast was delicious.

A football and volleyball court, table tennis, a games room and free access to the gym are all available at the Jugendherberge Bad Gastein, which is a 9-minute walk from the Stubner Kogel Ski Area. Located on a high point of Bad Gastein. Very friendly host. Good closed storage room for bicycles. Good breakfast.

I gave this estabishment such a high score because it was exactly what I was looking for. It's true that it's not fancy, but it is clean and functional and the location is perfect. I really appreciated the very responsible and sustainable use of the space and so wish more people could catch on to this style of traveling. I was also happy to have the option of a simple room for an appropriate cost. For someone who does not watch commercial tv or need my own bathroom for a one night stay, it was great that I didn't have to pay for those things. (And the bathroom was exceptionally clean, by the way.) Sheets and towels were clearly freshly washed. Lighting was plentiful. The unusual check-in system and keyless security system worked perfectly. Wifi was great. I did not use the "Keep Living" (sitting room and kitchen) area, but on quick glance they were both being used and looked quite comfortable. On a longer stay, I'm sure I would have appreciated having them. I got exactly what was promised on the excellent website, information on Booking.com, and communcation with them.
