Enjoyed first visit so much came back for longer stay. Beautiful garden courtyard and attractive, spotlessly clean rooms. Food is delicious and generous. Service is friendly, fun and natural. So helpful I actually played tug of war with my muddy shoes and pants because they insisted on helping. Love the location because it's in a quiet place outside of town but an easy, comfortable walk into town. Or grab a nearby boda boda. Feels very much like a retreat with opportunity to meet other travelers over meals or while lounging on the hanging beds. There are grocery stores, casual restaurants and a street market within easy walking distance. Simply a lovely place.

This is the best accommodation in Tanzania!! The room is spacious and very clean. They have stable hot shower. The staff are helpful and clean our room every day. The hostel is also spacious, with a lot of chilling areas. It is around 10mins by tuk tuk/mototaxi from town. The hostel sell food as well, which is very delicious and cheap!! Ghynwine is extremely helpful and cheerful. He helped us organise a lot of activities. Highly recommended to everyone!!

The hostel is very quiet, the room is comfortable, and there is hot water powered by electricity. There’s also Wi-Fi, though it can be intermittent. For instance, I had no internet in the mornings, but overall, I’d say it was stable. Additionally, the person who received me, the host, was very kind.

The owner, Deo, went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay at Pazuri. He stayed up past 11 PM to greet us upon arrival and prepared a 5 AM breakfast when we required an early departure. The hostel was simple but will perfectly fit anyone's goal to explore Moshi.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the facilities are clean. The large terrace offers a nice spot to relax with a view of Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s good value for the price. It was my 3rd time there and I can totally recommend it.

Super welcoming atmosphere in this cosy hostel. Rooms are basic but good (we had a normal room, not the fancy bungalows). Located little bit outside of Moshi, but still easy to reach with a Bajaji. Had good food and funny cooking class with Nasara.

Upon arrival at Barazani villa, we were greeted by Victor, our host and Denisi, the security guard. We were shown the spacious common areas and our equally spacious and well equipped room (with mosquito net, furniture to store luggage and fan) and had a great night's sleep in our comfortable bed. The next morning, we received breakfast, cooked by the wonderful Stella, who instantly charmed us with her welcoming smile and sunshiny attitude. Every day we could request breakfast at our preferred time and Victor ensured we were aware of all options (including "European" and local options) they can cater to. We went to travel to a different location the following days, for which period we were offered free, secure storage of our luggage. Upon our return, the host, Victor, offered us a generous upgrade to a bigger room, at the same price, which made us truly feel appreciated. Throughout the rest of our stay all of our needs around the property were catered to by Denisi and Stella, who truly did their best to help us with any and all questions regarding the property and the area. Victor topped the whole experience and redefined what great hospitality means by showing us around, teaching us everything we need to know about the local culture by accompanying us and spending his precious time and energy making sure we are having the best possible time. We were so well treated and enjoyed Barazani villa so much that we will definitely spread the word about it to the rest of the world. Asante sana again, to Victor, Stella and Denisi -- you are the best! <3

Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

Best Hostel. Great breakfast, very friendly staff, close to everything, nice guests and very good (and cheap) food! Laundry service available too. When I come to Moshi again, I‘ll stay here :)
The breakfast was amazing. Cosmas cooked for us each morning and he was an amazing host. I would definitely recommend staying here. Cosmas is very accommodating and can help you with anything you need. He looked after our bags while we climbed kili. We wish we could have stayed longer here ! He is one of the best hostel hosts out there !
Breakfast was great, lots of different options. Wilema always made sure the hostel was clean, worked around the clock, organized and also sprayed every night for mosquitos. It was in great location for going to Materuni to see the waterfall. There was hot shower water. Opportunity for volunteering, very nice front yard and house.
We were a group of 18 people coming. We were taken care of very well. The staff helped us when one of the girls got her phone stolen downtown, but staff steeped in and made sure we were safe. John, our guide, was amazing. Great humor, likeable and very friendly. One of the guests had her birthday at the hostel and staff helped organizing cake, candles and amazing breakfast! We also had some last minute changes and Rahim assisted us all the way through. We are 100% coming back!
Because I happened to be the only guest there and it was low season, I was lucky to receive a room upgrade from a dorm room to a private room with no extra charges. Although it did feel lonely at times as there were no other guests to interact with. The room was clean. I like that the hostel also offers a tour to the hot spring and waterfall areas at a much cheaper rate compared to other tour offices in Moshi (p.s they're a rip off). And they have a cute paka (cat in Swahili) named Cutie.
I had an amazing time at Backyard Hostel Moshi. Extremely kind local staff that will help you out anytime and give you valuable tips. Delicious local foods for breakfast and for dinner. Very welcoming atmosphere and common area in the beautiful garden. I felt comfortable and safe in my room as a solo traveler. I really enjoyed the good vibes and local authentic feeling and am very grateful for my time there. Also the options for trips around Moshi to Kili, Hot springs, waterfalls etc. are amazing.
Great location -near public transport, on a calm street (we felt safe and were not disturbed by unwanted Rafikis) . Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a nice common place to hang out. Facilities are little old, however vibes are really good. Ask for a room with balcony if option is available. Great experience for budget travel.
