Terrible customer service, I arrived at the hotel around 12:30am from a trip out of town to check in. The receptionist was very unhelpful. I explained I was going out to visit a friend. A short while later when I returned with my friend, he told me there were no guests allowed in my room. I requested to pay for a bigger room if it would help. He refused, saying my friend must leave. I asked him for the house rules. Which he did not provide. As I had a friend I could not abandon. I decided to check out immediately. As the receptionist was very rude and uncooperative he even confronted me when I asked for the WiFi password, saying I should take a pic of a Q code, unfortunately my phone did not have the app. I left the hotel very disappointed around 3am, fortunately a taxi took me to a nearby hotel( hotel Sophia) A chilling experience very late into the early hours of a morning. I understand it's not a high rating hotel, but I always look for good customer service, here Safari inn failed miserably. On top I was still charged half the room rate. Although I spent less than 10 minutes in the room. Very unfair treatment.

What an oasis of calm Mgulani Lodge hotel offers. Having never been to Dar, we were so grateful of the The Salvation Army Compound this hostel is linked with, offering a space of tranquility in a city that feels like it never stops. It very quickly felt like a home away from home. And the staff were willing to help with anything you asked. It was a real pleasure meeting the team, and even better knowing any money they make off your room booking goes into helping other programmes that the organisation are running in Tanzania.

the security was very thorough we felt safe as soon as we entered the gates. Zanzibar ferry was literally across the road. the room was huge, bath room was very modern with the option of a window into the bedroom. rooftop restaurant was so cheap yet great quality.
It was a great location and wonderful to have a pool; I liked that there was a common area too. It was great to have a fridge and that there was laundry service! And the staff was incredibly nice! As I was traveling solo as a woman, it meant a lot to me that I felt very comfortable and safe at Baobab village. I highly recommend it.
The hostel is a very safe, quite upscale neighbourhood, where I saw a lot of embassies or ambassador residences. The room was comfortable enough, especially when the A/C was on, which depended on other guests being cold or not. The breakfast was good, considering the price, and it helped get the day started with energy. The swimming pool is a great bonus, as it is very hot in Dar es Salaam, so a dip is always welcome.
The room was clean, the air-conditioning great, plenty of hot water, the bed was quite reasonable. WiFi ok. The hotel is in a great location, our room was quiet , and 10 minutes walk from the ferry. The area seemed safe. All this for £14 per night, is fantastic value. The hotel can also organise a taxi to the airport for 25,000 Ts. Definitely stay here again.
Absolutely loved this hostel! The owners and staff are the loveliest people. The location is great and very safe. There are cafes, restaurants and a supermarket nearby. 15min walk to the beach. The breakfast was really nice. I stayed in the female dorm and it was very clean and spacious. I will definitely be going back at the end of my trip!
