The location is excellent: there are late-night bars, restaurants, cafes nearby, but at the same time it is quiet and you can hardly hear the road or music from the bars. The neighbors have a micro-laundry and local kitchen. 7-eleven in 5-6 minutes, to the sea 7-10 minutes walking slowly. Surin Beach can be reached in 20-25 minutes on foot. Breakfast is very cheap, but don't expect anything special. You can ask the owner to rent a bike, or walk along the street closest to the beach or the street leading to Surin and find it yourself in 5-10 minutes.
AC works clean and well, this is important since the ceiling heats up quickly in the heat. The water drainage is slow in the bathroom, but otherwise it seems that this is the norm throughout Phuket, but there is no smell of sewerage or dampness in the bathroom, this is very, very important and good. Som (owner) is a cheerful and hospitable lady, you can contact her with any question. Between the two bungalows you will find a hose for watering the plants, so you can wash your feet off the sand before bringing it onto your veranda - we try to always keep it clean and therefore only asked Som to clean the room once 2-3 days. The bungalows are surrounded by beautiful small trees from the hosts' building and the hostel, so there is a sense of privacy.
The owners have cute cats, one red fluffy one can come visit you :-)
If you like to walk and lie around the surrounding beaches all day long or drive around Bangtao or even the entire island of Phuket, then this option is for you.
Located within a 5-minute walk to Kamala Beach, Baan Kamala Backpacker offers comfortable dormitory rooms. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.

Big property. The room with 6 beds inside is big and has a balcony. Privacy curtains and the bed is big.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
The hostel is cool , the only thing is that if u choose the cheapest room u will Sleep on the floor cause is no bed just a big blanket on the floor but for the price is cool. :)
The Luna, hands down is the best hostel you can choose to stay in Phuket. There are few reasons that makes it standout.
- You can literally walk to Phuket Airport from the hostel.
- Included breakfast and unlimited coffee throughout the day.
- A close proximity to 2 of the beaches: Mai Khao & Mai Yang Beach.
- The hostel provides you bikes to ride around.
- There is a living room where you can hang around with inclusion of pool table.
- The staff is exceptional and helpful.
- Although being a hostel its fairly quiet.
close to the airport , shops, beach , great location
nice hostel lots of common area , kitchen , pool, terrace
if i ever back to phuket airport ill stay again at luna
The room was clean, had CCTV, with a security door to the entrance with key card entry. The room had a large front balcony, cold fridge and excellent / comfy / huge bed with perfect pillows and doona. The aircon was great and very cold. The location is just a short three minute walk to the most beautiful beach with 7/11 and other food places (great breakfast / lunch) only 100 meters away. I’d stay here again as it’s cheap, very clean, I felt safe as a solo female, and a great location.
For me this was just the last night accommodation before flying home. i was very surprised that there is so much to do so close to the airport! the beach is beautiful, and there’s a national park right next door. The hostel was nice with a private pool, and it was very quiet during night time. The dormitory was clean and dark (no windows) and the air con was just perfect.
Great location close to the airport, this hostel is one of the most organized and neat hostels i've ever been to. It's more like a hotel for backpackers. Very clean and quiet, it has great lounge areas and a library, and the staff are the sweetest. Also really cool that you can rent the bikes for free.
