I truly have nothing but good things to say about this hostel and the host Margarida. The place is super lovely, welcoming, clean, and spacious. Lots of equipment for example in the kitchen, nice location with mountain view. And Margarida is super nice, helpful and just a very decent person who even helped me when I got sick and needed medicine.
Pousada de Juventude da Serra da Estrela is inserted in the scenic area of Serra da Estrela Natural Park. The unit is just 10 km from the nearest ski resort.

good value for money, definitely the cheapest option on offer when I visited. it’s a family run building, and Joao was kind enough to pick me up at the bus station with his car! it’s conveniently located, you can walk everywhere, nice view of the city from my room, a big kitchen to cook meals and decent bathroom. Cozy room with lots of natural lights, mattress is not the best but the towels were the softest :)
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Centrally located and spotlessly clean, this quiet apartment was perfect for us.
No problem storing our 2 bicycles safely in the room.
Gaining access via the codes and key box was really easy.
We would happily stay here again.
The hostel is immaculate, very presentable and more like a hotel than any hostel I've stayed in previously. The facilities are excellent, the room was very light and airy, with a beautiful private bathroom. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the whole place is so fresh and new. I had a wonderful stay there without any disturbance. The staff are absolutely wonderful and couldn't do enough to help. I'll definitely return on my next trip to Seia.
We used the hotel as a base for exploring the Serra da Estrela on our motorbike. Great location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and a good breakfast. We were able to park our motorbike under cover just outside the main doors.
Brand new, mostly good quality materials, nice touch with kettle and tea, overall good experience, easy parking, safe, walking distance to supermarket, coffee and restaurants.
What we didn't like was the location was a 15-minute walking up a steep road after check-in at Casas da Lapa. Then the bathroom is upstairs (15 steps) with no railing to grab to. It's totally unsafe for us seniors. They should mention this to someone who is looking to book at Soito. Must say, though, the management remedied the situation by transferring us to their wonderful Casas da Lapa Hotel. A heart felt thank you to Nuno.
It was one of the best nights during my 10-day trip in Portugal. We arrived late to check in as we found some snow while driving at Serra da Estrela, and the owner was very welcomed, giving all instructions by phone to arrive safe and get the keys and codes. The bed and the shower were amazing, and the breakfast was incredible. You can see and feel the care and the personal touch in this boutique hotel. I would definitely recommend.
Nice and elegant place, in a great location in the mountains.
