Looking for a hostel?
Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

Great location next to the walled city. Fairly new hotel with nice poolside sitting area outside with an bar serving food and drinks. Built on top of restored centuries old ruins in the centre of the foyer with a small museum, unique idea. Street parking was easy next to the hotel.

Picked ths spot by the Guadiana whilst motorcycling in Spain and Portugal. Mertola is one of the few crossing points. It was quite hard to find in steep little streets but easy safe parking and a lovely view out over the river. It was a very comfy room in a private house

The receptionist let us leave our bags and bicycles in a safe place as we were early. Good information about the town and where to eat. Brilliant location for the sights. Breakfast had lots of options and beautifully cooked eggs and beans, lots of different types of bread and rolls, cheese, ham, cereal, drinks, fruit etc.
