On arrival, we were told that we could not use our requested accommodation (at Hostel Lopez El Valle) because there was no electricity. The alternative arrangements made by the owner (a detached house) was sufficient to meet our needs on location and comfort, etc; and possibly at additional cost to them. But we had needs that were not met, unfortunately - see below.

A lovely location a short walk from El Cruce supermarket and easy to get to the start of the popular Indira hike or to the main street. The owner is lovely and lives next door. I was very lucky to be the only person staying so it was like having a casita all to myself! Two hammocks outside perfect for relaxing in! Good wifi too and cooked breakfast prepared each morning.

Great rural alternative if you don't want to stay right in the tourist center of Valle Anton. We booked three nights and could not have been happier! The host family was really an example of panamanian hospitality, they looked after us for trips, gave us tips, and even a small tour around the neighborhood. Very sweet people. Auxi, the host, is an English teacher, so you will have no problems with communication. We loved the stay as it gave us an idea of rural panamanian life and access to more hidden spots to visit (including the 'Pozo azul', which you need to go to). Recommend!
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Communication with owner was excellent, we got the entrance code prior moving in. Place is big and clean, with some kitchen facilities. There is a big terrace and huge outdoor kitchen. It is 10 min walk to the city center, but it is safe and peaceful area for staying there. Very easy to find.
A beautiful place with a well-kept garden in a quiet area close to the main street close to restaurants, supermarkets and the local market. The hostel is clean. Includes laundry service for $5.
The location is amazing. It is very close to many restaurants and not too far from La India dormida hike.
The surrounding of the hostel is adorable, and the hammock is just excellent.
Nice hostel a bit outside, but only ten minute walk down to restaurants etc. Excellent breakfast and friendly owners who live as neighbors. Good starting point for nice walks in the mountains
Great location, amazing views, lots of space in the property, loved the sofa! Enjoyed cooking in the outside kitchen and small kitchenette in the room was very handy. Friendly and helpful staff. A very relaxing stay.
Beautiful room. Located in a peaceful area near Indiana Dormida, but quite a walk from the village. This makes it really local (loads of cheap local food around) and quiet. Great for hikes and meantime chill in the hammock.
supercosy hostel, calm, close to the india dormida hike(perfect for a sunrise hike), breakfast included and nice with a private room! good value for the money!
clean and lovely view from the hammock! would definitely recommend it!
The hostel is in a great location, walking distance from town center and near restaurants and shopping. There is A/C, comfy beds, and a feeling of privacy. It's quiet at night (when I went). Antonio checked me in and was very friendly and helpful.
