Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
This is the best hostel I have been so far. I can see the passion of the host. He loves bringing people together and he does not want to rip you of which I realy appreciate.
Big hostel but the manager keeps the capacity limited, so that your dorm is never full - max. 2-3 people per dorm!
Cute cat and dog onsite.
I could borrow a bicycle for free!
You can also book Tongariro transport very cheaply.
The best WiFi I've encountered in a long time. If you need to do something online, this is your place!
You feel just at home here, you meet such friendly people. Sandra (the host/owner) is so nice. She loves to chat and help you with making plans in the erea. She helped me book the tongariro crossing(mordor/mt doom) and was super easy. It is one of the best hostels I had.
One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Sandra has gone above and beyond to make the lodge feel homely. This includes her approach to helping guests with activity bookings and generally chatting to people to help them feel welcome. The facilities were really clean and the lounge area was a lovely place to sit and chat with others.
Sandra was such a helpful, kind, and caring host. We felt welcomed from the beginning.
The hostel is so cozy, and it felt like home for a few days. A highight to us was the oven In the living room and.the ginger cat!!! <3
We will definitely come back one day!
To us, it had been the best hostel experience, so far. :)
Ian is a very friendly and helpful host! He gave us tips for the Tongariro Crossing and also picked us up after the hike. He really cared about making sure all of his guests got back safely from the hike. Ian has some regular guests and the atmosphere is much more personal than other hostels. He always emphasized that his accommodation is a retreat and not a typical hostel. ;-)
A great hostel - clean, well-equipped and cheap. We had an en suite double room - very comfortable and clean. Perfect base for our hike on the Tongariro Alpine crossing. Seemed like the majority of guests were more mature, like us, but one young lad also said it was the best hostel he had stayed in.

1
It starts with a booking
It starts with a booking

2
Followed by a trip
Followed by a trip
When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.

And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.
