Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Having the facilities, the pool, gym, and sauna and a safe space for our car and a great location by the water and easy walking access too. The apartment was great and spacious too.
Great location walking distance to town centre , easy to find. Safe location
Welcome addition of electric blankets and smart TV. Bedroom was very clean
Beautiful hotel, great location, amazing views over Lake Taupo and very peaceful. Everything is well sound proofed and warm. Spotlessly clean and everything in fantastic shape.
Great courtyard set-up which felt safe with a relaxed vibe.Everything seemed to work and staff were very helpful. Grateful for a discount with my Scottish Youth Hostel card.
After one year of travelling all over New Zealand I can really say, Haka Lodge is the best Hostel I was staying in. I felt very safe, bathroom und kitchen were clean, nice staff and very good bedrooms. I was staying in a dormitory in Auckland in Haka Lodge and in Taupo in a double bedroom, both I would always recommend.
Really like the privacy of curtains on the bunk beds and how sturdy they were. Also the convenience of a plug in each bunk for charging devices safely. lockable cupboards for possessions were good. The hostel had a welcoming and friendly vibe and good for socialising but not too loud late in the night too, so a great balance as a solo traveller. Facilities clean and tidy, cleaned well every morning.
We wanted a quick turn around bed for the night
Basically felt like a youth hostel.from my traveling days . Bunk beds clean sheets room was.clean
Great price .great location .
Good center location. 2 streets back from the water front.
Plenty nearby places to eat and drink and get coffee and close to water sport tourist attractions. Others, a walk or quick drive such as Huka Falls and hot pools.
The hostel is as to be expected if marked as a 3 star accomadation.
Clean enough, safe feeling, cheap accomadation in convenient location but very basic. Bedding included, but you should bring towels and toiletries.
The best hostel kitchen we've seen - really big space with enough hobs, pots and pans etc for multiple people to cook at once. Lots of fridge space. Very Clean. Lots of fridge space. Great views. Well heated bedroom. Easy check in. Parking on site (although pretty crammed and we did get blocked in by another car). Great location near the centre of town.
