I loved how clean it was and homey feeling! But most of all… the bath! I booked it mainly just for the bath because I competed in my first ever half marathon and thought I’d need an Epsom salt bath after and man was I grateful for this sweet little cottage. Kitchen had everything you needed, they picked me fresh fruit off the trees too on arrival. It was so clean, everything was perfect ! Thank you
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Very quiet location, essentially in the heart of Paihia but not busy at all. Clientele of all ages not just young backpackers. Wooden bunk beds meant no squeaking beds when moving. 12pm check-in rather than usual 3pm
Centabay was my favourite hostel that I stayed at in New Zealand!!! I loved the vibrant atmosphere, the lovely backpacker-staff and the wonderful manager who was always a joy to chat with. The prices are incredibly reasonable for a place in the middle of Paihia, and you can tell the manager isn't in it for the profit - she genuinely wants to help travellers have the best experience possible. The hot tub worked well and was always great to use. The hammocks and tropical garden are another bonus. I could go on and on!
So clean
Great facilities
The view from the kitchen - absolutely stunning
The staff were top notch (especially Scott) !!
He always went the extra mile, nothing was ever too much hassle, and I loved how he helped organise socials with other travellers in the hostel. This is genuinely so appreciated when you’re travelling solo, it made meeting people so much easier and gave the hostel a really nice welcoming and community vibe - couldn’t recommend here any higher <3
Great location, close to supermarket, shops, beach, main arterial highways and good tourist spots. Safe parking and large surrounding private grounds, ideal for families, play sports outside etc. well stocked with utensils etc, but take extra towels.
That was very great hostel. It was very cheap price accomodation and facilities was very good. The kitchen was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The common area is speciaous with beautiful scenes and the beds are very great with curtains for privacy. It is one of the best hostel.
This is the best hostel I've stayed at in New Zealand so far!!! The location was amazing. It is right in the centre of Paihia, surrounded by restaurants and shops. The lounge was my favourite. It overlooked the sea and was well decorated. It is a cosy place to unwind at the end of the day. The whole place was also exceptionally clean. Plus, when I visited, the all-female staff were super lovely and made a female solo traveller like me feel very comfortable indeed.
Very kind owner. Genuine kind and friendly. He takes pride of the place and their customers.
Location, it is right in the middle of the town, just 2min walking from the bus stop/station and the wharf to get the ferry to Russell. Also, so convenient located near shops, restaurants, cafes, etc.
Price, it was cheap.
It is safe for solo travellers
A bath tub outdoors and a friendly environment, couches and TV next to the kitchen, where you can interact with other travellers
