Couldn't be in a better location - it's less than 100m from the central train station, and on the main road of the town (it's also only a 10-minute walk to the beach, because Tanabe is a small town). The rooms are small, but clean, and for this price, it's a good value. The bar that the hotel is connected with is a very cool space to hang out in and have a drink or two (way nicer than anything else in town - a great vibe).
Located 1 km from Tanabe Ogigahama Beach, Buddha Guest House offers 1-star accommodation in Tanabe and features a garden.

The owner is really nice and will give you lots of information on the hike, also where to go to have a nice dinner in Tanabe.
The dorm room are cosy, there's only 2 beds in each. Each bed has its lamp and sockets.
There's everything you need in the kitchen and a supermarket not far. It's nothing luxurious but it's a nice cosy guesthouse.

Great little hostel for the beginning of the Kumano. I loved the host. He was really interesting and cool. Great location - super close to the train station and places to eat.

I spend 5 super relaxing days in Susami to flee the busy cites of Japan. The Town packs everything you need to calm down and enjoy a peaceful time in Nature. There is a coffee, multiple restaurants, an izakaya and a supermarket within max. 15min walking distance. The Ocean is right across the street in 1min. walking distance and Susami is surrounded by beautiful hiking / pilgrimage trails, waterfalls and other small coastal towns that offer a variety of unique sightseeing spots or activites (you can find all information in the local tourism centre). Although the hostel is located near the street you dont get bothered by the car noises (there are hardly any cars passing by after 6pm). I came during november where there were only 2 other travelers besides me. While the other travelers passed by on a pilgrimage i stayed in susami and had a great time with sosuke, the super friendly and helpful hostel host, who sometimes invited his friends over and let me participate in their talks around the campfire or other local activities. Anakashico hostel and the entire South of Wakayama area is a place where i definately want to return to and continue to explore more of japans beautiful nature and slow and peaceful country side.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Great Location close to the beach. Onsen was good. Place was clean. They provided breakfast which was a nice bonus. We rented the 2 bedroom Apartment which felt relatively large.
Fabulous guesthouse at the end of the Shirahama bus route. The guesthouse offers either private rooms or a dormitory. There is a large communal area, kitchen, food "shop", bathrooms and toilets on the first floor. The kitchen is well equipped for full meal preparation. On the second floor there is another communal area, toilet and private rooms.
The owners are super friendly, helpful and speak English.
The local bus to Shirahama station and highway bus to Osaka stop right outside.
Very friendly, small ryokan , great location just above Ginza street and easy walk to the beach. Traditional hotel, not renovated (maybe better that way?) but well maintained and clean. Way better than staying in a big concrete/eyesore hotel.
