Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
The owner was really nice, it is the low season so when I arrived she offered me to stay in a single bedroom instead of the dormitory I’ve paid for. For 2 days I was literally alone, it was super quiet. You have everything you need if you want to prepare your meals. She even recommended me a very cute cafe you should visit right next to the hostel: ユータウン with a very cute indoor garden and amazing pancakes. Overall a great stay 😁
Great location close to the shop, port and train station. Lovely guesthouse with onsen available for guests to use. Good facilities like fridge, microwave and plates. Small but traditional Japanese rooms.
Very nice small hostel. Excellent location, clean and comfortable. The rest guests were mainly young backpackers. There is onsen you can book and use privately.
Perfect location directly opposite the train station. Quiet, clean room perfect for a one night stay after finishing our Kumano Kodo hike at Nachi falls. Very good value for money. The hostel has an onsen bath but we didn't use it. We had dinner at the hostel owner's brother's tuna restaurant next door which was really delicious and cheap considering it was high-quality food.
This is the best Hostel I ever was in. The owners were really friendly and the hostel was SO clean. We had a long trip behind us with some fancy hotels and we felt so much better in why kumano than in some other places. It was great to meet some of the other guests and everyone was really kind. Also in the night it was surprisingly fresh in the capsules and quiet. Thank you so much.
I slept in the dorm, a new experience! It was quiet all night, and enough room in the capsule. Clean and nice showet. Nice staff. The hostel is right by the train station so it was very convenient as I was taking the train early the next morning. I came from Nachi (Kumano Kodo) and the bus stopped right outside the hotel. Cheap, nice hostel if you need a place to sleep in Katsuura.
