A Wooden Oasis with an Unforgettable Staff
This bohemian-style hostel in Ishigaki is a hidden gem! The spacious, all-wood interior blends Japanese tradition with a relaxed beach vibe. The dorms are not only super clean but also surprisingly spacious. The full kitchen is a great bonus, and the location can't be beat – just a short walk from town.
But what truly sets this hostel apart is the staff. They are, without exaggeration, the best I've encountered in over 50 hostels worldwide. From 10 AM to 1 PM, it's like witnessing a well-choreographed dance of cleaning and teamwork. Their positive energy is infectious, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that feels like family. ❤️
Special shoutout to "Sushi," a staff member who went above and beyond. His knowledge of the island's best beaches (he's a local paddleboarder!) was invaluable. Thanks to his tips, I discovered some truly amazing spots. The owner should definitely recognize Sushi's exceptional contribution – he made my trip unforgettable!
If you're looking for a hostel that's not just a place to sleep, but a place to connect with amazing people and experience genuine hospitality, look no further.

Great guesthouse - extremely clean, comfortable beds, excellent location on the island, and the staff (just one wonderful, joyous, very hardworking girl, Ayumi) is superb: free drinks every night for the whole hostel to socialize, and then she leads everyone on a safari around the island to see the wildlife: giant coconut crabs, fireflies, even owls and snakes (at a distance for that last one!) - many people make the mistake of staying just one night before going back to Ishigaki, but I stayed for 4 nights and couldn’t be happier - strongly recommend!

A quiet place, it is like they said : a retreat.
The Island and Neighborhood are calm and beautiful for walking early morning.
The. Facilities are perfect and the owners very kind people.

Loved it :)
Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
I like guesthouses. You get to meet new people and, bonus, our teenage children are forced to interact with strangers rather than their phones. Holoholo was no different. Ok, the guesthouse is basic as they normally are (i.e with little sound insulation, quite small…) but it is clean, friendly and the staff is nice. The location is optimal for hanging out in the center, for restaurants, the port and shopping. If you are well organised you can get about by bus.
Nice room with sea view. Showers outside the room to rinse off from the ocean. Pool was clean and refreshing. Free breakfast was very good. Able to use bikes, kayaks, snorkeling gear for free. Beach right outside the hotel. Free shuttle to and from the airport on our schedule. Rented a car from them was fast, cheap, and easy. Josh, the owner was helpful in where to go and other tips. Claudineia and staff was fantastic and helpful.
It was very cheap, probably the cheapest accommodation in the area. The staff was kind enough to meet me in front of the hostel as it was difficult to find at night.
An old-fashioned backpacker's hostel in a good sense. super friendly staff with everything a backpacker on a shoestring would need. from free laundry to several communal kitchens, breezy terrace to hung out and even a place for tents.
the dormitory room was a bit small, but your bed has everything you'll need.
they also have 2 beautiful and friendly cats.
