Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
A beautiful hostel with great views and really well cared for. We met the owner, Knutur, and he is such a friendly and kind man, he told us about the sheep and horses he owns.
There are two very friendly and helpful young peeps working there and made our stay great.
The hostel is super clean
It has everything you need (fully equipped kitchen).
The room was warm (the owner put heating on before we arrived).
Late (self)check is possible (after 22h)
It's not really a hostel because the guests are divided into different rooms, or at least that's what happened to us. We were accommodated in a nice wooden cottage overlooking Húnafjörður bay. The hostel is very close to the Hvitserkur rock.
Quiet hostel at a rural location. Has all the necessities and adjacent store for small foods and drinks/tea/coffee/alcohol. Hvitsker and seal colony are nearby and provide a pleasant walk in the evening time (and in the gale and horizontal drizzle). The place is off the ring road and remote from nearby towns, but I wanted to stop here after a long day driving, otherwise would not have come.
Osar Hostel has a great location with a view on the Ocean and the mountains (from the rooms on the upper floor). It is really quiet and the bed are good.
We could change ours rooms as we arrived early in the afternoon. Thanks!
We saw many seals at the beach, on the other side of the river.
We could talk about horses and Iceland with the owner in the early evening, it was very interesting! Thank you!
Good located hostel nearby Hvitserkur. Easy access to a spot where you can watch seals and birds. Very friendly host. Well-equipped kitchen.
