Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
EAsy to find. Had a room to myself, clean and basic, and dogs were welcomed. James was very facilitating - accepting my bicycle which I posted. The kitchen was well stocked - though I didn't avail myself of breakfast - it was very basic - cereal, toast, spreads and lots of them. It is a backpackers hostel and that's exactly what it's like.
The owner is very friendly and will always be available to help you in case of need. The hostel is well located within the center of Thurso, close to coop supermarket to buy groceries that you can easily use with the kitchen. The rooms and overall structure is safe, warm and cleaned daily.
It was a great option to travel on a budget. James was very friendly when he showed me around. It is nice that the room has an en-suite-bathroom and that there is a kitchen in the hostel.
The owner is a very helpful man. The common room was large and also acted as the kitchen and breakfast room. There were facilities to have cereals with a fridge stocked with milk etc. As a Youth Hostel it was very good.
The young manager tries his hardest to make everyone comfortable but is defeated by the age and condition of this property.
It was good to have a kitchen available to cook our meals but it is so old and worn, could not read the oven and cooktop dials, that it is not a pleasure to stay here. We won't again and would warn all those who are not backpackers on a budget that this place will shock you. Our bunk room was deceit, shower passable, beds awful and old.
Convenient location, friendly owners, cheap, good range of food for breakfast. It's a hostel not a hotel and as a hostel it provides a good service.
