One of the best hostels I have been to and I have stayed in hostels all over Europe and the world. It has a great vibe. One of those places where people still hang in the communal areas and talk and share meals and hang out. Met tons of cool people there. It also has a great balance of being cozy and charming and seeming like an old Mediterranean property but all the kitchen area had been renovated and was modern and clean and easy to use. Everyone seems to cook and hang out there. They have a good breakfast included and fun activities like yoga on the roof or team soccer are available. A lot of the staff are work away kids so people live there for the summer and care about the space which I think contributes to the vibe. When I was there the crowd skewed a little younger and a little bit English speaking (with some exceptions) which is not my preference but everyone was still very kind to me and inclusive and there were a couple of us who were older and it didn’t feel odd. Even though people will stay up and smoke and talk it’s not a loud or party spot either. Super chill and good vibes all around.

Great staff and owner who cooks dinner each night for just 10€ (worth it!) It is also in the quiet part of the city close to a public beach. It’s a nice social place without being a party hostel.
I also left a pair of sandals at the hostel by mistake and messaged Sergio, the owner, and he was able to coordinate with his son to drop the shoes off in Tirana so I can pick them up later on my trip. Such excellent service, I have been recommending this hostel to everyone going to Himarë.

The owners were so nice and did everything they could to make me feel comfortable and at ease. I had an issue with my luggage and helped me with coming to the hostel and back. Very social hostel with nice atmosphere.

Staying at Shotgun is such a unique and authentic experience. Bree and Adrian have created such a cosy place and their charisma makes everyone feel so at ease, as if visiting old friends. We had breakfast and dinner at the hostel which were super healthy, delicious and at great prices. I loved staying there and will definitely return next summer.

What a fantastic place to stay! The rooms were lovely, right by the sea, very easy to get into town and everything nearby. Peter and his family were amazing hosts, they’ve put a lot of work into this place and it shows. They gave us a nice tour of the property and all the rooms looked lovely. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

If you wish to wake up in your best shape ever, please book this accommodation. I don't think I've slept so well in the past year. It is absolutely wonderful, everyone is extremely friendly (mostly backpackers and workawayers), the nomadic, down-to-earth vibe is literally soul-cleansing, you'll feel like you are washing away all your worries in the outside showers, and I'm telling you, using these squatting-toilets with cricket sounds in the background is all you need. The donkeys and goats greeting you in the morning is a bonus as well. If you walk a bit further, you'll have an amazing view of Vuno. The beds are comfortable and just perfectly enough. Rooms perfectly cool down during the night, no need for AC. You can buy beer from the fridge. Himare is very close by car.
Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
Best hostel in town if you are looking for peaceful and authenticity. The view is amazing and you can look at the sunset every evening. Yaya, the owner is so nice and did a lot of things to made our life easier. You just need 15 minutes walking to reach Filikuri beach which is great. I had booked 2 nights and I finally stayed 6.
One of my best hostel experiences. Ascetically beautiful with a modern kitchen, a few different chill out areas and comfortable dorm. The staff and volunteers were well organised and always keeping the environment clean, tidy and atmospheric. The space felt like a community, with many returning travellers and some staying for months at a time. This place gave me so much more than I bargained for! Thank you

Fair price for sunchairs, we only used the right side of the beach. 5 euro for 1 umbrella and two sunchairs (june 2024).

Great value for money, the best you can get in Himara. Also a great location, only few minutes walking to the city center and beach. Also you have the opportunity to get a bicycle or rent a car for a better exploration. In the hostel you can find all the information you need for the most attractive destinations near to Himara. The owners are very kind and helpfull for everything.
