For added privacy, the accommodation has a private entrance and soundproofing. simple but completely clean studio apartment with plenty of space for two people. It was warm and had a kitchen that was perfectly adequate to cook a meal. The bathroom was modern with a generously sized shower. There were two bathrobes as well as towels. It was quiet and with parking right outside. The house is up the hill from the harbour and it was a bit cold (snow everywhere) to walk to the hot pools on the shore so we took the car, but I would estimate a 10 min walk in summer.

It was lovely to relax in the living room and look out on the sparkling sea. The owner is super friendly and showed us where to find things. Our twin room was very comfortable, albeit a bit small, but we could hang out in the living room and kitchen, so the size didn't really matter. The beds were very comfortable, and included two pillows instead of the standard one pillow.

This family-run guest house in in Nordurfjördur village offers basic rooms in a converted barn, as well as modern self-service cottages. Krossnes Geothermal Pool is 1 km away.

A well-equipped kitchen, private bathroom and private balcony with BBQ feature in all cottages at Urdartindur Guesthouse. Guest rooms have a seating area and private bathroom. I imagine that most of the people staying here are doing so to go to Krossneslaug a few km up the road. But the cottage and its surroundings are worth a trip in their own right. Secluded but all the facilities that you need, including a gas BBQ outside which we used to cook burgers. All in all well worth the 100km drive from Hólmavík. And an added bonus is that if you are staying overnight you can visit the pool late or early and avoid the day trippers (just remember cash to pay or note the bank details to make a transfer)

Our room was beautifully designed and the bed was very comfortable. The roomy shower was superb and Stephanie our host was so friendly. We couldn’t ask for more on our 3 day stay.
