If you want amazing views outside of the bustle, overlooking the tea plantations and perches up above the town, this is the spot for you! We had an amazing stay here, the staff go above and beyond for their guests from the minute you get there. They ensure you are comfortable and checked in with us multiple times during the stay. Our favorite parts were the view from the place, our dinner (curry buffet dinner, little pricier but so worth it!) and the rooms themselves were super clean and bright with lots of natural light. Would have stayed an extra night if we could.

The place was great with amazing views and a calm atmosphere. You hardly ever hear any vehicle traffic. You could hear a lot of birds, especially in the morning.
The staff did an amazing job to make us comfortable and made us delicious meals. The owner, Muni lives next door and was very responsive to all our questions and requests.

I've personally visited the rest 6 years ago with my friends and the smile and warmth of the hosts has never wavered despite the constant coldness of haputale. :). Rooms were clean, Hot water throughout the day, Plenty of stuff and places just near their rest to walk/hike to. go for a local a meal by them, you will not be disappointed! The genuine hospitality and friendliness of the host family. I usually stay in hotels and this was very different, nice experience. Meal prices surprisingly low and the lady of the house who cooked for us was flexible enough to provide our requested choice of meats which is rare in local homes who normally provide only chicken and fish.
The most welcoming and helpful family. They helped us catch local buses to popular attractions, gave us plenty of tea and were so friendly. We can not thank them enough for their hospitality.
Perfect location just a short walk from the train and plenty of restaurants. Our fave restaurant was green paradise.

Amazing woman in an amazing location. The entire take is “rustic living” in Sri Lanka: boiled water for the shower with natural herbs from the garden, home cooked food over an open fire, and the best sleep you’ll get in town. The homestay offers incredible views, large, comfortable rooms, and a peaceful atmosphere. But the most special part of Nilowin is the kind, helpful family who run the guesthouse and the delicious, fresh, home cooked food in an idyllic setting. Our whole family took the cooking class and learned so much about Sri Lankan food and culture. I can't recommend it enough.
The local village and tea fields are beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed it all so much that we extended our stay.
Short walk to town, nice view on terrace. Really lovely hosts and really good curry for dinner. We also were able o be picked up to get to the guest house and leave our bags for free.
We actually loved staying here and knew the moment we came that we wanted to stay another night! Everybody was so amazing and helped us organise our trips :) The food was also really really good! Shirodh was our driver for the 2-3 days and made our experience a lot better here! He stopped everywhere we wanted to and also explained and showed us many things! All in all we loved the welcoming family and their homestay with its amazing view of the mountains and tea plantations!
