We went here specifically for a tour in Bundala and for that it is perfect. There is not much else in the neighbourhood. The room is fine and clean!
We also had dinner there and that was nice.

Among the best guest houses I've been. Very friendly and helpful owner, excellent food and tea, central and quiet location with sea view, 100m from beach and 500m from main bus station. Room had private bathroom, fan, good ventilation and daylight, is mosquito-proof when doors closed, and had a balcony with sea view. Free wifi is available. Very good value for money. It's very pleasant to sit on the balcony or in the shaded garden in the breeze, hear the sound of the waves and enjoy the view.

We absolutely loved this place! Thank you so much Sanjeewa for your hospitality. This guest house is super clean and has a lovely view over the rice fields, right near the centre of Tissa.
The host is so friendly, helpful and provided so much knowledge. We got a little tour around Tissa which we really appreciated - plus the extra gestures thank you! So thoughtful.
He also organised a great safari for us in Yala, and then we came back to a delicious home cooked Sri Lankan lunch! Was fantastic.

Hosts will go above and beyond to make you feel like at home. The host organises every evening a free bird watching tour around the lake that is amazing!! They even packed us breakfast for us to take on the safari at 4:30am.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
I liked the pleasant staff. The location is across the street from the fishing harbor and a couple of sitting areas which filled with locals each evening. The hotel room is air conditioned. In complete fairness - for the price I got exactly what I believed available. When I left I thanked the clerk and gave a tip. My remarks below are for others to know a bit more specifically. The hotel is not what is portrayed on Booking. But it is an inexpensive hotel in south Sri Lanka run by kind people who will try to make you happy if you ask.
Great location in the town, about 7 minutes walk from the bus station. It's a quiet location with jungle garden. In this family homestay you are made to feel very welcome. The host is naturally considerate and adjusts things to make your stay comfortable. If you chose to have meals, they are substantial and delicious.
Homestay with family atmosphere. Great vegetarian food. Host extremely kind and hospitable. Also very knowledgeable about herbs/Ayurveda. Jungle garden has beautiful birds and butterflies.
