Among the best guest houses I've been. Very friendly and helpful owner, excellent food and tea, central and quiet location with sea view, 100m from beach and 500m from main bus station. Room had private bathroom, fan, good ventilation and daylight, is mosquito-proof when doors closed, and had a balcony with sea view. Free wifi is available. Very good value for money. It's very pleasant to sit on the balcony or in the shaded garden in the breeze, hear the sound of the waves and enjoy the view.

This is an amazing place. The house is big and beautiful and close to nature. You can feel real Sri Lanka here. And the host will provide you with a lot of information about living in Sri Lanka- something you will not learn elsewhere. All the members of the family taking care of the place were extremely helpful. We additionely got the nature Tour with weaver birds' nests and monitor lizards from the host! We didn't sleep at the cabin because there was a problem with the booking but the host did everything to organise a place to sleep. We had 2 wonderful safaris on a motorbike and Danushka was an amazing guide with a lot knowledge. We could take a look at the cabin and it was a wonderful place with great view and a pond nearby.

If you are looking for accommodation and safari this is just right spot for you. Sanjeewa is one of the kindest person we have met in whole Sri Lanka. He welcomed us with homemade mango fresh juice from his garden. Told us about fruits and stuff around the place. He arranged everything for us ! We had tasty homemade lunch after safari and room upgrade for free. He also took us to bus station and put us on the right bus to Mirrisa. Thank you for memorable time!!! We will come again!

Fantastic stay, great room with a view, with a feeling that you are right inside a national park. Our host & family was extremely helpful, taking us on a motorcycle ride to a nearby tree area at sundown to observe thousands of herons and bats. A true spectacle. He was also helpful with organising our trip to Yala national park, which is a must do in the area. Afterwards my wife turned sick (for other reasons) and our hosts were immediately supporting us in every way possible. Not only did she recover but we truly enjoyed our stay at Lake Face Cabana.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
I liked the pleasant staff. The location is across the street from the fishing harbor and a couple of sitting areas which filled with locals each evening. The hotel room is air conditioned. In complete fairness - for the price I got exactly what I believed available. When I left I thanked the clerk and gave a tip. My remarks below are for others to know a bit more specifically. The hotel is not what is portrayed on Booking. But it is an inexpensive hotel in south Sri Lanka run by kind people who will try to make you happy if you ask.
Great location in the town, about 7 minutes walk from the bus station. It's a quiet location with jungle garden. In this family homestay you are made to feel very welcome. The host is naturally considerate and adjusts things to make your stay comfortable. If you chose to have meals, they are substantial and delicious.
Homestay with family atmosphere. Great vegetarian food. Host extremely kind and hospitable. Also very knowledgeable about herbs/Ayurveda. Jungle garden has beautiful birds and butterflies.
