Mr Moriyo and his partner were amazing hosts. They were super kind to provide us with a temple ticket for free and had given good attention to the details including having our tea ready for the check-in and through out our stay. Breakfast was exceptionally good! They helped us make reservations and gave the attention needed when I was desperately in need of their help.

Our family like the unique experience of staying in a traditional japanese wooden house with some hidden ninja-like sliding doors. Although the house looked old, the amenities inside the house are modern. The toilet is advanced Japanese toilet and our bedroom is equipped with new airco, adjustable led light and air purifier. The bed is comfortable and spotlessly clean. Each bed is also equipped with own curtain for privacy.
Our host, Mama and Papa treat us like family during our whole stay. We really enjoyed sharing our travel journey and life stories with each other. All in all, we really felt at home at Compass guesthouse.

The location is really good. Near a metro station and relatively close to some famous sightseeing spots in Osaka. I also loved my room and the traditional vibe of the house.

This property is like a Homestay run by a very nice gentleman. If you don’t want to pay the exorbitant Kyoto hotel prices, this is a great option. It is a 13 minute train ride to Kyoto and a 12 minute car ride to the station from his house. You get 1 ride to and from the station per day, and there is also a bus if needed. The house is meticulously clean, it is quiet, the bed in the Mountain View room is extremely comfortable, and we really enjoyed our stay.
The owner is really giving his heart out for this homestay.
