The atmosphere of the place was amazing. Great common area where everyone hangs out and eats together. Host was very friendly and easy going, creating a cool/laid back vibe. Japanese travelers were welcoming and let me practice my Japanese. The craft beer and homemade jam was a nice touch.

ペット可 Akiu-Canada 鴻ノ巣温泉, hotel in Sendai

13 miles from Sendai City Community Support Center in Sendai, ペット可 Akiu-Canada 鴻ノ巣温泉 provides accommodations with access to a hot spring bath, public bath, and open-air bath.

Steve (the owner) was exceptionally friendly. Steve accommodated me with both a dinner and breakfast even though I didnt choose the meal option when orginally booking. I still had to pay for the meals, but they were well worth it. The meals were homemade Japanese style meals. I believe he mentioned he could accommodate western pallets. There's also a kitchen provided if you would prefer to cook your own meal. The location is amazing for scenery, if you love nature and Steve is knowledgeable about his property and is able to give you some history about it. The room I was in was a japanese style room with a kotatsu in one section and the sleeping section had a japanese futon mattress. It was early spring when I stayed and it was cold for me outside (iirc it 5°C/41°F), but under the plethora of blankets and comforters that were provided I stayed comfortable. Taking a dip in the onsen really helped me get comfortable before dinner and helped me get a restful sleep. Akiu-Canada innkeeper is friendly, very helpful and kind. The scenery is amazing for nature lovers and there's even more nature to explore relatively close by, if you have the means of transportation. The food was delicious. The on-site onsen is relaxing. And the sleeping arrangements are great. There's more pictures I wanted to share, but I can only submit one per prompt.

Traveler's Wharf Shichigahama, hotel in Sendai

Open from 2016, Traveler's Wharf Shichigahama is a 60-year-old Japanese-style accommodations with views of the sea.

We absolutely loved our stay at Traveler’s Wharf Shichgahama. Taka is a wonderful host - attentive, accommodating and we really enjoyed getting to know him a little bit. He took excellent care of us, anticipating our needs and showing great hospitality. He picked us up from the train station, and advised us on activities in the area. I would highly recommend you stay here if you are looking for a quiet, low key place close to the beach.

Nakamura-San is a fantastic host, this was my second time staying at the guesthouse and it was even better than the last! The location is perfect for Matsushima Bay, directly downtown and less than a 15 minute walk from everything you would want to see. Nakamura-San has fantastic recommendations and is extremely hospitable, and speaks fluent English.

It's a pretty good hostel with everything you expect. I liked that my room didn't have more than 4 beds because more people means worse sleep. The showers had nice warm water and the toilets were clean. There's 2 kitchens and a large lounge with a comfy couch and 2 very nice cats. The other guests were all very nice as well.
