Hibari Guesthouse was surprisingly nothing short of amazing and one of the most wonderful experiences I ever had in my life and probably will ever have wherein travel is concerned. It is hard to believe that I had stumbled upon a jewel having made absolutely no research prior to arriving in Japan.
All of the staff at Hibari Guesthouse had made sure that every moment of every day of my vacation was to be perfect as they put so much effort to take care of my every need--from amenities, travel information to general host-guest relations and services. I had stayed and booked to stay with them for an entire month (29 days) and even then it all feels still too short for living a slice of heaven.
I had a longtime personal vacation planned to visit Japan for more than a year and ultimately decided to tour around the prefecture (province/state) of Miyagi and having Sendai city as my main travel hub point and praying on the plane ride over hoping I had made the right choice thinking and planning over many months of a vacation in Okinawa or Kyuushu instead. This hostel made my vacation/travel nothing short of extraordinary and made me realize i had made the best choice in my life. The staff were extremely wholesome and their friendliness and guest services was astonishingly homely. (Both Japanese and English speaking friendly)
It was perfect.

Steve (the owner) was exceptionally friendly. Steve accommodated me with both a dinner and breakfast even though I didnt choose the meal option when orginally booking. I still had to pay for the meals, but they were well worth it. The meals were homemade Japanese style meals. I believe he mentioned he could accommodate western pallets. There's also a kitchen provided if you would prefer to cook your own meal. The location is amazing for scenery, if you love nature and Steve is knowledgeable about his property and is able to give you some history about it.
The room I was in was a japanese style room with a kotatsu in one section and the sleeping section had a japanese futon mattress. It was early spring when I stayed and it was cold for me outside (iirc it 5°C/41°F), but under the plethora of blankets and comforters that were provided I stayed comfortable. Taking a dip in the onsen really helped me get comfortable before dinner and helped me get a restful sleep.
Akiu-Canada innkeeper is friendly, very helpful and kind. The scenery is amazing for nature lovers and there's even more nature to explore relatively close by, if you have the means of transportation. The food was delicious. The on-site onsen is relaxing. And the sleeping arrangements are great.
There's more pictures I wanted to share, but I can only submit one per prompt.

We absolutely loved our stay at Traveler’s Wharf Shichgahama.
Taka is a wonderful host - attentive, accommodating and we really enjoyed getting to know him a little bit.
He took excellent care of us, anticipating our needs and showing great hospitality. He picked us up from the train station, and advised us on activities in the area.
I would highly recommend you stay here if you are looking for a quiet, low key place close to the beach.
Travelers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. These simple accommodations are in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
It's a pretty good hostel with everything you expect. I liked that my room didn't have more than 4 beds because more people means worse sleep. The showers had nice warm water and the toilets were clean. There's 2 kitchens and a large lounge with a comfy couch and 2 very nice cats. The other guests were all very nice as well.
