Super clean!!! The hotel is a very new building(Sep 2024 built), so everything runs well. The room is really big, and there is a shared living room at floor one for people cooking, eating, or having some tea or beer. The position is also perfect for us, 5 mins walk from JR south Otaru station, 5 mins walk to city central shop street, 5mins walk to Uniqlo Otaru, then you can keep distance from noisy crowd tourists but still easy to everywhere. Meanwhile, there are several nice cafe and restaurant nearby(No tourist type), even a 24hours Sukiya in walking distance, so nobody will go to bed with empty stomach. At last, the host is also super nice, he turned on the heater in advance before we arrive, maked us really warm after 5 mins walk in snow night the first day.

Excellent place to stay if you have a car, and especially if you love cats. The Japanese style bedroom is clean and comfortable. Bathroom and shower facilities are technically shared, but since there seems to be only one guestroom, you are really the only ones using them. Host is super polite, and makes an effort to communicate via Google Translate.
This place is in a quiet neighbourhood ~20min walk to the canal. It's also a bit of a walk up a slope. Not really an issue if you have a car. Note that the shower is on the other side of the "cat room", and the cats' bedtime is around 9PM, so the owner requests that the guests return/arrive before then. Just something to be aware of. For us, any minor inconveniences are completely offset by being able to spend some quality time at the end of the day with several friendly cats.

Great hostel, staff is really nice and the bar area is nice to chill with good priced drinks. The room has a comfy vibe and the bathroom is clean and convenient. Would definitely recommend if you're staying in Otaru for a short or longer time.

Japanese home stay
Liked · It is an experience for my family to stay in a japanese style house. Owner was very patient and response to our query very fast. The instruction to checkin and the location of the free parking was provided with Google link. Thank you owner to provide us an enjoyable stay. All kitchen utensils and washing machine are all available.
The hotel had great style. It was also in a great location, right on the canal. We could see the canal and the sea from our room.
The hotel staff were all amazingly friendly and helpful, supplied us with amenities such as face creams and razors etc. they were very happy to store our luggage after we checked out.
Check in and check out was a very smooth process and the hotel is easy to navigate. We did not use the bar, but I have heard from locals that it is good and has good cocktails.
The staff at this homestay are incredibly friendly! They were always ready to assist with any questions or needs we had. Plus, they offer free drinks which was a nice touch. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it feel like a true home away from home. Overall, this homestay exceeded our expectations and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming place to stay.
The very warm welcome and the location. It was very close to the canal and all the shops there. Despite that, the homestay was still on a quiet street. The cats were super cute too.
The beds were super comfortable and there is a fridge and water dispenser right outside the room.
A historic building with great character. The owner of the homestay has a restaurant on the first floor and can provide timely assistance. There is a double room and a 6-person room on the 2nd floor. The living room and kitchen are on the third floor. The rooms are comfortable and the stairs are steep, recommended for younger groups.
love the host family with a lovely cat and a lovely dog!! so cute to play with! many decorations and books to read through! nicely prepared self brand souveniors, I bought a stamp collection book and collect stamps directly from the host and for my remaining trip! The entire house and the room so warm that i know most wooden furnitures were built by the host! so amazing! i also love the local cooked breakfast! so warm! wonderful at high elevation to enjoy the city and mountatin views!
