Minshuku Chatamago, hotel in Nagasaki

Offering a garden and inner courtyard view, Minshuku Chatamago is set in Nagasaki, less than 1 km from Nagasaki Museum of History and 1.9 km from Nagasaki Station.

This place represents amazing value for money. It is a very characterful guest-house in a quiet largely residential area. Admittedly the room I had was small, but one can hardly complain in view of the price paid. Also, there is a communal kitchen/dining room with free coffee provided and plenty of facilities for cooking your own meal. This was also an opportunity to relax away from the small bedroom and meet fellow travellers. The availability of self-catering facilities gives one even more scope for making this a very affordable place to stay. The owner does not live on site but good provision was made for gaining access to my room in his absence. Although the bathroom had to be shared with other guests, it is a small guest-house with only a few other people with whom to have to share the facilities. It is only a few minutes walk from a tram stop that gives good access to Nagasaki's main sights.
