Overall, the facility is very comfortable and clean. The dormitory room has a locker for storage of personal belongings. The bed is comfortable and cozy, and bed sheets and pillow sheets to overlay on top of the futon are provided. We had a very good sleep.
The common area is also well decorated and comfortable. There is a free water station, interesting books, board games, and card games. We had fun reading the horoscope book and playing Uno cards in the common area while drinking some locally sourced water, which is very tasty!
This place also operates a bar at night. Although we didn't get a drink, we had gelato, which was very yummy!
They also have a sauna room and provide rental towels for 200 yen. The shower gel, shampoo, and hair conditioner provided in the shower room are surprisingly good quality, making the shower enjoyable.
They also sell their own goods, such as stickers, sauna hats, and mesh net bags. The selections are interesting and cute.
The location is good—about a 12-minute walk from Matsumoto Station. The Matsumoto Castle is right next to it (about a 5-minute walk).
We love this place and would definitely come again!

I haven't stayed in hostels for years and did do only because my friend decided to stay there.
It is very clean despite all facilities like showers or toilets being shared between females and males.
It's exactly long on the photos.
The mattresses and pillows are comfortable.
One thing I'd like to mention to the staff - foreigners who live in Japan and hold resident cards, don't have to give you its number. You should not request it like you should but request passport number from Japanese citizens. It's what Japanese law says.

Extremely friendly and helpful host family! They gave so many great recommendations for the area. Free parking on site also, which was hard to find in the area at other accommodations.
This was our first stop on a month-long trip around Japan, and I cannot put into words just how incredible the whole experience was. A beautiful private home, with a friendly host, in a lovely rural atmosphere.
We enjoyed every aspect of the stay, from the traditional decor, to everything we learned about the region.
What an amazing way to start our Japan visit - we are sure no other places will measure up.
Beside rhe very good hosting and breakfast, I was so.happy, after that I forget some documents, that personnal of this hotel found it and sent me by postoffice through a specific company!
Our stay at the Northstart Loft was very comfortable. It had all the necessary amenities required for a relaxing stay. Spencer is a great host and provided excellent customer service.
A lovely hostel that has very spacious rooms for the two bed rooms. The communal spaces were very clean and the host had many different recommendations for the area and city of Matsumoto. We really enjoyed our stay here!
Beautiful 100-year old traditional inn with a lovely host who spoke excellent English. We stayed in a Japanese room that gave us everything that we wanted and also very tasty Japanese breakfast. Western style rooms and breakfasts were also available.
This was such a great hostel. The bedroom was fab, the onsite restaurant was good and the onsen was excellent too. There was hardly anybody there which seems such a shame.
