Guest House Shinagawa Shuku is located on a lovely shopping/restaurant street in a not touristy neighborhood. The staff is friendly and helpful. They recommended three excellent restaurants to me.

Owners were very nice and accommodating. They helped us check in even though we missed our check in time. They were very responsive despite the evening hours. The bus stop is just around the corner to take us into the city. The nearest train station was about a 15-20 min walk away.

The owner communicated with me many times before my stay! She was fast to answer, the room is comfortable and easy to find! About 5 minute walk from the train station. She even assisted us with getting to our destination early morning! There is Netflix and a comfortable shower! The beds are often very comfortable! Thank you!

Rex-Inn is a male capsule hotel, about 5 minutes on foot from central Kawasaki and the station. It mainly caters to locals, and less so to tourists. This is noticeable with little English and no tourism information at hand at all, they won't hold your luggage for free either.
That said, it is a very cost-effective way of staying central. The shared bath and sauna are very enjoyable. WiFi works fine and staff will help you as much as possible.
