Helped with planning the activities in and around, picked us up and dropped us back from Railway station, arranged a guy for canoeing and guided him to plan as per our request. The beautiful homestay was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The room was perfect for us.
The location in a small street on the island gives the island vibe we were hoping for - but still, it is easily accessible with a TukTuk. Using their free bikes you can explore the island or try local restaurants.
The heart of this place is the lovely local family running this place. With joy they helped us planning our stay - organising tours, providing free bicycles and helping us with the train for our next destination.
The included local breakfast with delicious Apem is very tasty and we looked forward to it.

We only stayed one night but we were happy to have found Anand’s place. Well situated, close to train station. Property is very clean. Chilling spot on front porch in front of the room with fan to make it comfortable.
Anand was very helpful, he gave us all the information we needed to get around the island and activities we could do. He lended us bicycles which is a super way to explore the island. Anand’s mom prepared good homemade food for us.

I loved this location! There's backwaters right in front of this house. Owner and the staff are too sweet, this was an old house, they recently converted it into this beautiful, cozy homestay. Space and rooms are clean, green and overall, I loved the architecture and minimal vibe of this homestay. Also, the cook, Raju bhaiya makes delicious South Indian and North Indian food. Brownie points for his coffee and hot chocolate skills - tell him to make one for you :)
We had a very good time at Vishnu’s home stay. The food prepared and served was amazing. On top of it Vishnu took us for canoeing for a price and it was brilliant. He knows many ways inside the island and that made him show various places during canoeing. Thank you very much for all the hospitality and food and we definitely come back again.
Honestly this homestay was more like a home. Suresh Uncle, Aunty and Anand were amazing host. Aunty is such a great a cook and Uncle took us to see the nearby places in Munroe Island. This place is so calm, amazing location just next to the canal. They also arranged the canoe ride for us. More than the homestay I liked the simplicity and warmth of the owners. Uncle even gave us the plants from their garden. Rooms were well lit and clean and they even have a chill out zone, a nice pond and a ground for kids to play.
This was my second stay at Munroe Island Backwater Homestay. The location is breathtaking, and is perfect for a relaxing trip. The staff are so kind, and the food is fantastic - there's always something different on the menu. I felt incredibly safe at the house, and would be more than comfortable visiting alone as a female!

Deepa was super friendly and welcoming. We had a nice long chat about all sorts of things, She is interested in getting to know her guests, which makes the homestay all the better.

Deepa arranged for her father to take me on a canoe trip, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
The room was spacious and very clean. The host family was very nice and polite. They organized us a boating trip around the backwaters of munroe island as well as dropped us at the train station at the end of our stay. We enjoyed every moment of the stay. Especially the food was amazing. We had traditional Kerelan food cooked by the grandma. We could always decide what we wanted to eat with veg and nonveg options. You also have the choice to cancel dinner and go somewhere else for food but I would recommend the food at the home stay.
This homestay is as beautiful as the Munroe island is.
Clean room and washroom, wifi enabled, good food and the host Akhil took care of everything.
If you are staying on this island, then Kailasam home stay is definately a good choice.
