Waterside Guesthouse is in a charming location on a river about 30 minutes to Kilkenny. We wanted to stay there because it was on the list of Ireland’s most beautiful villages. The owners were really friendly and welcoming. We received tips on what to do and where to eat. Breakfast was super good—juice, coffee, eggs porridge, bacon, pancakes—all delicious! Would highly recommend!

Lovely hosts, Eamon and Nicola! We had the treat of being on a property with thoroughbreds! The owner took us up to the hill to watch the riders while they train their horses with the emerald patchwork of Graiguenamanagh in the background, breathtaking! The shared bathroom was not a problem at all and we had wonderful fellow boarders who were kind and respectful. You absolutely must stay at this BnB, biggest bang for the buck! Dingo, their little dog, was the sweetest little guy in all of Ireland! I wanted to take him home.

We had the best stay at Butler House, from the location, to the ambiance and the staff. The rooms are beautifully decorated, ours had a lovely view of the gardens. The breakfast was delicious. And the location can’t be matched, just walk through the gardens and you reach the castle. Would love to stay for longer next time.

The location was ideal. It was a short walk to town to enjoy the people and businesses. This morning we went for a hike a short distance away at Deer Park, and we were glad we started from The Monkey Puzzle.

Great location and very cozy, beautifully decorated room. Lots of nice added touches in the room (cute tea/coffee area, little fridge with fresh milk, fresh water and cookies, toothbrushes and toothpaste).
Travelers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. These simple accommodations are in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.

The stay was exactly what we expected . Lovely out of town location. Requires use of a car but we knew that when we booked. It’s also only a short drive to Kilkenny (30 mins). Very comfortable bed and Eamon was a great host👍. Would use again.
