Travelers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. These simple accommodations are in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
Easily the best location from all the homestays we saw on the island, beautiful beach in front of the house. Decent bule style breakfast (pancakes, toast, avocado/egg sourdough sandwich, plenty of fruits). Paddleboard available for guests. The owner helped us with renting motorbikes. The staff is lovely, helped us with chartering a boat at decent price to go back to Padang when the fast feery got cancelled:)
I would recommend Arthur Homestay, the staff is very helpful and the place is well-located. We enjoyed those few days spent in Mentawai and I will book again Arthur's place.
I had a very nice time at Arthur Homestay. Most people come to the Mentawais for surfing, but I was there for fishing and it was well worth it. I was able to go fishing with the Homestays own boat and caught a couple of nice GT.
The owner and the staff are very friendly and assist with everything you need.
The facilities are also nice and modern. During my stay the owner installed a new water pump to increase the water pressure, the shower has great pressure now.
The homestay was really pleasant place to stay.

Affordable, close to the beach, more of a hostile than a home stay, l'm a older guy and everyone made me feel welcome, close to a couple of beach cafes.
Great homestay, adorable staff with very nice encounters…we feel here like in a small family, can’t wait to come back during a next stay in the Mentawai Islands…thanks again to the whole team for this great unforgettable stay ☺️
